I selected this product to play 4k, Blu-ray, and dvd disks. I did not want a device that would try to be more than that which would possibly get me so confused I couldn't get back to doing this very thing and doing it well. So far it has served me well doing what I selected it for. Thanks for making something I wanted that has not overwhelmed me.
Bought this for it being a simple 4K Blu Ray player and nothing else. If you don,t need Netflix, Hulu, etc. on your DVD player this unit will fit your needs.
Picked this up after searching for an affordable 4K UHD Blu-Ray player that wasn't also busy trying to be the all-in media streaming machine most try. This player is bare-bones, but also more than adequate. It plays every major format of disc, including 3D support! For those complaining about 2-channel output from the Optical jack, it's easy to fix with a setting in the player that remixes the output properly. I actually use the HDMI output as Bitstream to my receiver and I'm getting full Dolby Atmos audio. This machine is really amazing. It's well-made, but again, bare-bones. No streaming apps, but I don't need yet ANOTHER place to stream Netflix anyway. Make sure your TV supports HDCP 2.2 on your HDMI port that supports HDR, or it'll down-scale the video to 1080p. Hey, at least it does that instead of just a blank screen like most players would. Philips has a heck of a bargain here.
Just picked one up tonight and hooked it up. I've watched three 4K HDR Blu-rays so far, and this little thing hasn't missed a beat--no frame skipping, no slowdown, quick 4K Blu-ray loading, and best of all incredible picture quality! Although the Xbox One S can be had for $75 more, I don't game and this unit is half the size...but I would definitely recommend this product if you want an inexpensive, small, and fast 4K disc player with great picture and without the frills!
Great for the price. Nice to get a deal... no wifi, not very flashy, not allot of apps. I have 4 devices in my media center all capable so not a dollar on unneeded features. Doesn't skip a beat playing movies. lacks dolby atmos- not a deal breaker.
4k UHD players are still pretty expensive but this entry model does the trick. I currently have it hooked up to a 55" Philips 4k tv and it plays my UHDs, blurays and DVDs flawlessly. The upscaling of regular DVDs is really good. I was surprised how well the upscaling looked for these SD dvds. Blu rays look wonderful and UHD is flawless. I only have a soundbar and the audio sounds fine on it. I know this player does not support the higher end on the audio scale but for what I have, it works just fine. If you are looking for a cheap entry into the 4k uhd market, you can't go wrong with this!
Bought this player the other day..already watched a couple 4K movies and all I got to say is that it's worth what I paid for it ☺
The unit works great, but the remote's buttons are not in the common locations, nor do they use the common emblems. Took over 30 seconds just to find the open/close button.
Bought 1 and it wouldn't even power on. Exchanged it for another one that will only power on if HDMI cable is disconnected. Also, we can't get it to output from HDMI to tv. Tested our other dvd player just to be sure it wasn't our cable which worked just fine. Returning our SECOND one of the day. Absolute garbage!!
I have to unplug and plug bag in my player EVERY time that I want to use it. It freezes up and won't do anything. It doesn't read the remote, it won't react to the buttons being touched, nothing! It's like having to turn a computer off and then back on to try and get it to work. But for me, I have to unplug it and plug it back in since it won't turn off. And because of where I have to have it, the unplugging and plugging back in process is just that. A HUGE process. Will never buy this brand ever again.
