I've been using the audio technica mx50s for the past three years but the fit was not comfortable and I wanted a value upgrade. I researched and decided upon the Fidelio X2HR. I received them today, pulled them from the box and connected to my external DAC running 24/192 and the sound is superb. My audio technica MXs have more bass but I'm more into into a full balanced soundstage and the Fidelio does not disappoint. Looking forward to more listening experiences after which I will update my review.
If you take everything good about these headphones: - Amazing comfort. - Easy to drive. - Great soundstage. - Clear tones. - Punchy bass. - Good for gaming, music, movies or general dialogue. And add the cons: - Hard to find.... You end up with just an amazing set of headphones. Phenomenal. But hard to acquire since Philips doesn't seem to be actively producing them anymore. These headphones are great for the discounted price...comfortable, decent build quality and sound. They are not quite audiophile sound quality, but close. You would have to spend quite a bit more to get substantially better sound. I like the bass (cleaner than Beats) and vocals and highs are well represented albeit with slight tonal color added. They are great for late night TV and nap time music listening when I don't want to fire up the audiophile speaker system. Unlike many audiophile headphones, they do not require a separate an expensive dedicated headphone amplifier to generate reasonable sound levels and performance.
they are epic and awwsome. very cool I LOLE TO GAME ON THEM.
Okay, I was disappointed at first.I thought these were Bluetooth compatible -- and they are, if you buy a dongle -- but I thought they were already Bluetooth, so be aware they are not.The cable does detach from the headphones, though, so you can buy a plug in mic, or you can buy a dongle to make them wireless.I did that, but I haven't received it yet, so I can't speak to that.However...I LOVE these headphones.I was about to send them back because I already have Sennheiser HD 560 S headphones, which are wired and with which I am very happy. The only reason I bought these was because they were the only open back Bluetooth (sort of) headphones I could find below a whole lot of dollars.Since I can get a dongle to make them wireless, AND because, as much as it PAINS me to say, I actually like these better, I decided to keep them. They are almost as comfortable as the Sennheisers and a little louder so no amp is necessary for me.The bass is NICE.The sound stage is pretty darn good -- better than expected, maybe not quite as good as the Sennheisers, but the bass and volume make up for it.Also, the Sennheisers kind of got claimed by my husband, who loves those and could care less about wireless. They are NOT noise cancelling. That's actually a plus for me.I don't like to be completely cut off from my environment.I'm sure you can get better headphones if you want to spend more money.I'm sure if you compared them one right after another to $300, $400, or $500+ headphones you can better satisfy your inner audiophile. But I know (because I've tried them on) they probably won't be as comfortable (and comfort is non-negotiable for me).I DO need a certain level of sound quality to be satisfied and I am very satisfied with these.I got these on sale two days before Prime Day and my son liked them so well he asked me for some for his upcoming birthday, so I got a set for him on Prime Day.I added a plug in wired mic so he can use them for gaming.I'm giving five stars -- value/price.These are great headphones.
Offers amazing out of head soundstage and balanced full sound with actually good subbass which is rare in open back headphones. With A good EQ the subbass can be boosted with no distortion and then you have very very close to closed back bass with an open back soundstage. Very comfortable as well.
I've had these headphones for about 4 months and I adore them. Most comfortable headphones I've had in my life and I've tried some that are twice the price with much lesser build quality. Audiophile quality headphones without need for an Amp. Clean and crisp sounding, comfortable eap cups and great headband. These are top notch
Good but doesn't have a mic on it to talk on games etc bummer for the price I mean come on
The thing which appealed about these was the frequency response curve (I looked up a few in advance), and this has a great relatively flat curve meaning that the sound is reproduced fairly faithfully-- no forced emphasis on any particular range. That said, depending what they're plugged into and whether it the ability to adjust EQ, you will be left wanting in the bass department, but that's purely a subjective desire. I have music that I'm happy to listen to without punchy bass, and music where I prefer the extra oomph; in those cases I can just slip on a different pair of headphones. One criticism on the physical design would be that there is no adjustment for head size-- there are no sliding arms and instead that's why it has two headbands; these flex and adjust accordingly, but I've found that on my smaller sized head it leaves them looking comically oversized, and also doesn't feel as if they're really sitting snugly over top my scalp, more like resting a few millimetres above it.
I love the sound and the way it looks and fits on my head, but i have issues with the head phone jack. I can't get sound in my right ear unless i hold the cable in a certain manner.
