If you have a Phillips hue hub this remote controlled plug is an ideal addition to your home automation system. This remote controlled plug can be easily added to your Phillips hue system. It is dependable, connects easily and works flawlessly. I strongly recommend this product.
Must have especially if you're already in the Hue lineup or products. I use this for my Christmas tree, some static deco lights that aren't Hue, and for a couple things around the house they occasionally need reset but accessing the socket can be challenging. Very easy to setup and control.
I use these plugs for a few lights and other accessories that I want to be able to control with a Hue switch, but cannot. My favorite example of this is my vintage sewing machine. It doesn't have an on off switch, you have to plug it in or unplug it to turn it on and off. It's a delicate 60 to 70 year-old electric plug that I don't trust. I have it plugged into a hue outlet with a hue button, and I love that I can turn this vintage machine on without having to reach for on an antique electrical plug. I also use these plugs for built-in lights that we have in the house, like under cabinet lighting. They are simple, not fancy, and a bit bulky, but they do exactly what they promised to do.
I love being able to turn lights or devices on and off with the app. Connection was the easiest I've seen.
So, I know this is technically for lamps and it even says to only use this product for lamps and lights, but I'm using it for a fan and it works great! I have HomeKit, so it's pretty awesome to turn the fan on and off with just my voice. Plus, I have location awareness on my phone so I know my lights and fan turn off every time I leave. Amazing product!
Bought this to replace a Wemo outlet that I use in my bedroom to turn on and off an air purifier so it only runs when I am in the room. The Wemo outlet had a relatively bright white light that was on when the outlet was on, which lit up the room. From the pictures it didn't seem like this one had a light on it but there is a dim green one under the plastic on the front. It does make my bedroom darker at night, so it's an improvement, just wish there was a way to turn the light off without covering it with electricians tape.
I bought one of the devices to see how it would perform with HomeKit. I like the product and want to buy more but they are unavailable. Additionally I would like to have an in wall smart plug outlet but they do not appear to exist. Silly. Why would I really want an ugly little box hanging off each of my outlet that just gets in the way from plugging in other devices versus a full in wall dual outlet?
It works as expected but not sure why it's costs more than twice as much as Wemo or TP Link. I got it because I didn't want to have to deal with another app on my phone and login. I hardly consider that a competitive advantage that warrants charging double the price.
I just bought this for a lamp with integrated LED to be able to control this lamp along with the rest of my lamps with HUE bulbs. However, the lamp has some sort of dimmer function (three light levels) and this does not work with the smart plug for some reason, i.e. I can only control the lamp to go off, and then I have to turn it on again "manually". Disappointed.
Does that work with the fan that I wanted. Does not work with everything.
