This is a great product

yaya49 April 18, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have purchased a few Phillip Sonicare toothbrushes over the past. Recently, I purchased DiamondClean 9000 HX9911 in January 2026 and had trouble getting it to work until April 2026 at which point I contacted Phillips Sonicare and they exchanged my defective DiamondClean 9000 HX9911 with a new one which works!

Impressive new tech!

NaliniY June 28, 2017

I was lucky enough to receive this product for free in exchange for my unbiased review. I have been using a Sonicare electric toothbrush for over 8 years now and have loved it. This toothbrush, however, blows my old one out of the water. At first, I thought that there wouldn`t be anything a newer toothbrush could offer that I wasn`t already getting from my old Sonicare. I was wrong. This product comes with the ability to connect via Bluetooth to the app on your phone, which at first sounded like it would be more of a hindrance than an asset. I also thought it made the product seem pretentious. The handle also has the ability to recognize the type of brush head attached. All of this new technology made me worry that it would be wasting a lot of my time and probably be glitchy. But I had no such issues. The product manual mentioned some models have a USB charging cable on the travel case, which would be nice, but apparently, this model does not include. The travel case itself is nice as it is sturdy and molded to protect your investment. My previous model Sonicare had a flimsy cloth case and once got accidentally turned on while I was traveling. While the charging stand and glass look aesthetically pleasing, I would rather have just had a stand alone. I understand the glass has a separate purpose of using for rinsing, but for me, it is just one more thing I have to keep clean. This product can use 4 different types of brush heads but came with only 3 types: Premium Plaque Control, Premium Gum Care, and Premium White. (The other one is the Tongue Care, which I would not use anyway, as I use a metal scraper and would not want to change.) So far I have used all 3 heads a least 3 times, and I am very impressed. My teeth have never felt cleaner, except when I actually have a dental hygienist clean them. I like that the app can tell me in real time, along with the vibrational changes on the handle itself, when I am using improper pressure or too much movement. I also like that the app shows you exactly where to brush and for how long. With my old Sonicare, I used to count to estimate how much time I had left in each quadrant. No more counting needed! I also feel that it`s easy for me to tune out when I`m brushing my teeth and not pay attention to proper technique. With this handle and app combo, it keeps me awake and alert, which is a nice way to help me wake up in the mornings! I do wish that there was an allotment for the actual bite side (top) of the teeth. I end up just trying to squeeze that in between the insides and outsides. I also know of some Sonicare models that include a method to sanitize the brush heads. With the expense that this model costs, I`m surprised that was not included. Overall, however, I think the handle is comfortable and well constructed, as I have come to expect from Sonicare. I like that there are 4 different cleaning modes on the handle (clean, White, gum health, and deep clean) along with 3 different intensities to choose from. When you first attach a brush head, these settings are chosen for you, but you can easily adjust them as you like. Then there`s the app itself. It has all of the bells and whistles I could think of to help me get the most out of by brushing experience. It has reminders, real-time tracking of your brushing activity as well as the brush head performance, even links to purchase new brush heads when the time comes. You can customize the goals and the trouble areas in your mouth. I`m pretty impressed with the technology and as a self-proclaimed techie, that`s not easy to get out of me. This is a first-rate product, but it does come with a first-rate price. And the brush heads have their own new technology with them so they are a bit pricey as well. However, if you have the money, this is a solid investment and your dentist will probably be proud.

Easy to use, teaches you to brush more effectively

TexasTom June 24, 2017

This is my review of the Philips DiamondClean Smart HX9903/11. I received a promotional sample in exchange for an honest review. This is a very nice toothbrush and is very high tech though the brushing process doesn`t have to be complicated. Turn on the power and brush until the handle automatically turns off. On the other hand, you can choose a specific brushing program (whitening, plaque removal, etc.) by installing the appropriate brush head, watch your brushing progress on the smartphone app in real time, and track your ongoing progress in the app if you like. Included are three different brush heads (each for a different purpose), a travel case, a rinsing glass, and a charger. The glass sits on top of the charger, and the brush handle sits base down for in the glass for charging. The brush handle is easy to hold and feels solid in my hand. After reading the easy to understand manual I installed the smartphone app and put the whitening head on the handle. The heads communicate with the handle so that the settings appropriate to the head are automatically set on the handle, and they are easy to snap onto and remove from the handle. Start the app before you grab the toothbrush and the app shows you where to brush and for how long, and indicates when you are brushing too hard. The brush handle also shows when you brush too hard by flashing an light and vibrating in a special way in case you are not using the smartphone app. The app tracks brushing habits and has a progress indicator to show how far you are in the goal you set. The app also points out areas where you didn`t brush enough and gives you a chance to go over those areas again at the end of the brushing cycle. It`s very easy to learn to brush better by using the app. As a long time Sonicare owner, this toothbrush is better than my old one in cleaning and additional functionality. It is very easy to use, cleans my teeth very well, and is a great tool for improving brushing habits. After brushing my teeth they feel almost like I`ve just come from the dentist. My only complaint is the `loose plastic` buzzing sound that occurs sometimes as I am brushing, which is minor. I will definitely recommend this model to my friends and family.

Important Feedback

ConnieM22 November 25, 2019

This is the best toothbrush i've ever had. It supplies the critical feedback I need to know how well i'm brushing and the problem areas I miss. The visual component as I brush is very helpful. After just 2 weeks of use, I got the best dental checkup ever: no plaque, very little tartar and healthy gums. I plan to make this toothbrush a Christmas gift for all my kids and grandkids.

My teeth feel so clean.

GC52 February 2, 2018

I like the DiamondClean Smart electric toothbrush. My teeth feel so much cleaner than any other tooth brush I've ever used. I also like the program from Phillips that I downloaded to my smart phone. The only thing I'm very dissatisfied with is the special toothbrushes that came with the toothbrush. 2 of the 3 brushes didn't' last 2 weeks. Several of the individual bristles actually came unglued and fell out in my mouth while brushing (according to the results of my brushing per the downloaded Phillips sonicate program, I'm brushing correctly). I ended up throwing the 2 brushes away due to several other bristles were loose and ready to fall out. I'm using the 3rd brush now and it seems to be holding after a week.

Too short of brushing time

Bina April 3, 2018

I was super excited to get this toothbrush from all of the great reviews I read previously, but I am disappointed with a few of its features. When using the toothbrush, the timing is never long enough. When using the "count down feature/where you should be brushing" on the app, it always says I missed two sections of my teeth after following the instructions. It has a set time for each section, so it runs out of time before getting to all of the sections of the mouth. Why wouldn't the brush timer last long enough to get every section of the mouth? This has caused me to use the toothbrush at least two times every time I brush, meaning I brush my teeth "twice" in the morning and "twice" at night. This causes the brush heads to get used up so quickly --because they tell you to change it after 180 uses. (Otherwise it reminds you every day it needs to be changed!) Divide that by 4 and it will only last 45 days. For the price of the brush heads, these toothbrushes should be lasting longer than just 45 days. I am disappointed I paid so much for this product and have to continually pay for the expensive brush heads so often.

Quality down from older versions

Pillowed April 9, 2018

Having used Sonicare toothbrushes for 20+ years, IMO, the durability and quality of this toothbrush is far inferior to the older versions of Sonicare products we've owned. The pressure sensitive light indicator is impossible to see since it's located on the bottom of the toothbrush. Since we don't have our cell phones available everytime we brush our teeth, we find the smart ability worthless since you have to be connected via Bluetooth to the app for any data analysis. We still don't understand why Sonicare doesn't relocated or re-engineer the position of the buttons on the handle to avoid accidental setting changes while brushing your teeth - just not allowing changes while the power is on would be helpful. Either way and with everything just said, I would never be without my Sonicare ... absolutely love them.

After 20 years Im done with Phillips

longtimecustomergone March 30, 2018

Ive had Sonicare toothbrushes since they first came out and we have always loved them. I ordered 2 of the new Black diamond (improved) brushes. In less than 2 weeks one stopped charging. Ive never had such awful quality from Phillips. But there are too many choices out there now to throw away more money. After all these years youve lost a customer...Me, My Husband, our son's, their wives.....See ya
