Small but mighty!

I was about to buy Klipsch party speaker but landed on this. Noticing that the sound out was more and price less than half, I thought to give it a try. Very happy with my decision so far. It's loud, bass is good and sound does not break. Used for my 5yo indoor b'day celebration, served great among a bunch of noisy kiddo's in a big hallroom.

Sounds very natural for vocal / instrumental music

anonymous March 3, 2025

I bought two TAX4207 speakers a year ago and have been regularly playing them since. They work as advertised. I have other named party speakers like JBL party box, and JBL Authentics 500 etc. however for the type of classical vocal and instrumental I listen to, these speakers reproduce closer to natural sounds with clarity which are pleasant to hear in lower and mid range. More bass or highs can be turned-on as needed. I don't play very loud so not sure if there is distortion at high volumes. The speakers are not very bright, colorful, or showy and I am not interested in those aspects as Music is purely for ears IMHO. Their TWS and party mode is awesome! I am so impressed with these low-cost super-performers that I bought two more this week when they appeared on sale (Philips Website just said this product is discontinued). Party mode means I can place them in four corners of the house and listen to the same music as I move around (or different music in different corners when not in party mode!). It is good for house parties and private ceremonies, house concerts or functions as some of these can be kept upstairs, basement or wherever to reach all audience. They work well with wired and wireless mics. Only issue I found was that even after turning the echo all the way down, it seems to reset to high after every off-on cycle, so one has to turn the echo knob up and then down to make it go away every time. All operation is manual (unlike the JBLs that work with their apps) but that is no issue also I guess I am old school.

This thing is the life of the party! Great battery life. Gets really loud minimal distortion. Wish I bought another to try them in stereo.

Unbeatable sound at this price point. Guaranteed.

With the dynamic bass boost set to 2 and the volume around 75% the X4207 should handle all kinds of music you throw at it before any noticeable distortion. While the bass (or the driver) won't shake the walls of your home, the size of the cabinet does provide some depth to the audio and makes your music sound fuller. Regarding karaoke, the X4207 will get the job done if it's to entertain a few friends in the backyard. For advanced singers or those that perform for a living, expectations need to be lowered as this cube is never going to be studio quality or stage ready. With a mic connected (I've tried wired and unwired) the playback is not immediate. Even with the echo turned all the way down, there's a noticeable delay between the mic and speaker response. The volume of the vocals, therefore, yoyo between too loud (trying to compensate for the audible delay) or not being heard (the result of moving the mic away to avoid clipping). The typical partygoer won't care much for accuracy, but for a professional musician this might be a deal breaker. I bought this speaker for $50 on special because I wanted to listen to music while i'm outside. In that price range, I have not heard anything as good or remotely close to the X4207. If the mic response was more accurate, this speaker would've been a home run. But perhaps I was expecting too much. That said, I've still given it four stars for the unbeatable price and because it filled my needs rather generously. If you're a pro singer and have other gear for karaoke use that. I would only connect mics to this one for the convenience and if it's just for fun.

Defective battery

anonymous May 19, 2025

I loved everything about this speaker… except the battery was defective. Not sure if it was just my luck but it could never power on unless it was plugged in. I followed the instructions for charging the battery but it simply didn't work. That aside — and it's a big aside — the speaker is definitely quality.

The sound on this portable Bluetooth speaker is good at medium to low volume. However, it begins to show its limitations at higher volumes. I'm giving this speaker a one star review because I have not received two of them with faulty batteries. Unfortunately, will be returning for the second time. I wanted to like it, but that's how things go sometimes.
