Half the power of older LED bulbs, just as bright

WarmJay March 15, 2026

I had an overhead light that had the original 10.5 watt LED bulbs. They lasted for about 20 years, and last week one of them finally went bad. These new Philips ultra-efficient LED bulbs put out the same amount of light, because I compared them side by side. They are also a bit smaller than the original A19 LED bubs I had installed, and in my opinion are more attractive than the normal white frosted glass LED bulbs I had been using. What sold me though was the energy efficiency of these new bulbs. The original ones used 10.5 watts, but these new ones use just 5 watts, less than half the power. Over time, that savings adds up! I honestly had no idea these new LED bulbs were so much more efficient than the original LED bulbs. These ultra-efficient bulbs cost more than a standard LED bulb, but I decided they are worth the extra cost. The new bulbs are supposed to last 50,000 hours, compared to 15,000 hours with a standard LED bulb. That would come in handy if you are replacing a bulb that is up high and hard to get at. And, of course, you are saving the cost of a couple replacement bulbs. Boy, we sure have come a long way since the days of 1000 hour incandescent light bulbs!

Life-changing!

kaymfranklin March 8, 2026

These are one of the few things that unexpectedly changed my life, in a way I didn't even realize was possible. Up until now, I didn't realize that soft white bulbs are actually yellow, but the daylight ones actually provide the bright white daytime lighting I prefer. I installed these bulbs in my bathroom and in my studio/workspace, and they have already made such a difference in the quality of my content. I also love having high-quality lighting for my bathroom vanity! I can't recommend them enough.

Perfect Bulb! Found it Finally!

CC May 29, 2025

The clear 60-watt was a difficult to find item. Walmart, as usual, was the place I found it. Works perfectly, packaged safely and securely....exactly what I was searching for. Just the right amount of light for a 4-bulb overhead fixture.

I was having trouble with cheaper off brand bulbs flickering and not lasting, so I decided to try these. No more flickering and the light output is perfect for my bathrooms. Paying for this name brand is worth it and I will not be switching back!

Excellent light bulbs, these are amonf the most efficient you can purchase in America and have a pleasant enough color temperature. They feel well made and subsrantial, and the 5 year warrenty is promising.

Efficient, Bright, and Built to Last

anonymous June 10, 2025

These Philips bulbs turn on instantly, use very little power, and are built to last. A bit pricier than standard LEDs, but worth it for the long-term savings and performance.

These bulbs work just as i expected. appreciate the white color and the brightness that it brings to our living room. Especially as an emergency buy as our old lamp broke. Perfect stand in until we find the next best one!

2 different nice bulbs selling under same listing

Craig November 15, 2024

These are probably 5 star bulbs as they are well made and very efficient, but Walmart is selling 2 different models of them under the same UPC code (046677582593). One with model number 9290035798 is non-dimmable, 4.5 watts and 3000K color temperature - what is currently described for this listing - and what I really wanted. What they mostly seem to be selling under this listing is model number 9290037652 which is dimmable, 5 watts and 2700K color temperature. I ended up having to go to the store a couple times and make a couple online orders just to get enough that matched for my purpose. I ended up with mostly the 2700K ones which was not really what I wanted (but is apparently what Walmart mostly is selling under this listing), plus one box of the 3000K 4.5 watt. Frustrating because of the effort I had to go to just to get a set of bulbs that match and the color temperature is yellower than I wanted.

Disappointed

anonymous April 8, 2025

To start, I'm an efficiency nut, and value good lighting. These bulbs caught my attention in the past, but didn't jump on it due to the high price. I saw Philips revised them lately and the 4 pack was a decent value, plus they added a frosted version. I just put these bulbs in to give them a try, and I was really disappointed by the light output. Firstly, while these are described as frosted, they aren't frosted like you'd expect. I think a glaze is more appropriate, the coating is thin, and you can sort of see inside. You probably wouldn't notice from a distance though. Secondly, they're advertised as 850 lumens, greater than most others, however, they just look dimmer than my other 800 lumen rated bulbs. I have 450 lumen bulbs in another room that seem to light it up better than these. I tend to perceive higher color temperature bulbs as being dimmer. Despite being a bulb with no big heatsink and filament style(vs LED board), I was expecting greater dispersion from these, however, compared to my existing bulbs with a big heatsink and small output area, those had wider more uniform dispersion, as well as a similar style bulb as the Philips also had better dispersion. The light output was fairly narrow. I was willing to put these faults aside, but frankly, the light output color wise is very underwhelming for someone who seeks a LED that mimics the warm orangey glow of an incandescent. I've found a few LEDs over the years that get fairly close, but these aren't one of them. They seem almost a different color temperature than 2700k, and the green vs red tinting is a bit too far on the green side. I was expecting a slight green tint, but it's a bit too green and cool. I know the old version of these were listed as 3000k, and I assume it's closer to that than 2700k. Colors that are lit up well next to the bulb do seem to be vibrant though. This may be better suited for a dining room or maybe kitchen, than a living/sleeping area. It doesn't bring the warmth I was hoping for. It kind of feels misleading to label these as 2700k, maybe they are, but they don't look like it to me. On the bright side, these bulbs are light weight, not too big, and as per the listings only draw 5 watts, which is amazing. There is only one other bulb line for sale that is close to that, and it may be on my radar soon, to hopefully fill the void of trying to get an efficient and warm LED bulb akin to an incandescent. I have a couple I'm happy with, however they're either not in the same size I need, and I was hoping for something that used less power.
