Holy sht these things are downright amazing. And it's Philips???? Where the hell did they learn to produce such an incredible headset? This is my first set of open back headphones and I've gotta say... Bravo and thank you for the affordable price! A+++

***** OUTSTANDING HEADPHONES ***** First, I don't work for any electronic or manufacturing company including Philips! I have been a audio/video engineer most of my career (30 years) and I can honestly say, without question, that these headphones are in the top 5 headphones I have ever heard! I have Sony, Technics, AKG, Audio Technica, Samson, JVC, and many more. They are all fantastic headphones! What you have to understand about the audio dynamics of headphones is they all have their on acoustic design and special character that set each of these headphones apart from each other. I think the best way to find a pair of headphones that you like and think sounds great, is to test all of them yourself and don't rely on people. reviews, even mine, and advertisements to define and make your choice for you. Decide for yourself because just like headphones, we are all different and hear sound differently. My opinion though, of these Philips SHP500's headphones are but one word, "OUTSTANDING." Burn in time should take approximately 60 to 90 hours!

Simply awesome.One thing I also want to consider with headphones (or any other product btw) is ROI. So, let's keep in mind that i bought this at $69.00, compared to higher grade headsets which costs upwards of $300 you might lose 10-15% of the SQ. So you would pay an extra $240 for a HD600 and you wld get 15% out of the music. (These numbers are strictly my estimation). Is it worth it? Absolutely.Music is very subjective and so is our individual listening styles, for me the Philips was a great investment for casual at home listening. If i really want to immerse myself in music then i put on my 400i or HD600 but when i just sit down for a few minutes and want to test out some songs these are the ones I reach for.The rest: I think they look super-cool with the big "R" and "L" on the side. These are "open" headsets so EVERYTHING will be heard, leave these at home. Comfort is decent , my ears do get warm after about 45 min.It can be driven with your phone or DAP however I always use an amp which helps a lot in any situation.The price often drops to the $60-70 range and at that price point it's a no brainer.

Does the quality exceed the price? Let me save you the trouble of comparing people's opinions and give you the simple answer. If you appreciate simplicity and value vocal clarity, they are worth the price.I purchased these cans thinking that they would be a perfect substitute for the HD600s that I've wanted for a while. They aren't. If you are picky about sound quality like me, just save up and get the HD600s or 650s. Let me give you a basic rundown on aspects that others have talked about.Comfort: Very comfortable, but more in a non-intrusive way not a luxurious way.Sound: Very forward vocals, small soundscape for open-eared cans, and no added bass whatsoever.Cord: Portable friendly length like most other headphones similarly priced.Side note: if you are creating music on a budget and need accurate, neutral headphones, I'd recommend these over any other pair for under $100.

I got the SHP9600MB with the mic. Headphones work and sound nice but when connected through the boom mic the left and right channels merge and only play sounds from the left ear. A shame really since I do not want to return the whole box just for a working mic.

This product was misleading and perhaps fraudulent. It was advertised as the SHP9500. What arrived was the SHP9500S (clearly marked on the box) with a different UPC sticker for the SHP9500 applied over the old UPC on the box. The difference between the older SHP9500 and the SHP9500S may or may not just be the included accessories but had I know I was buying the SHP9500S, I could have purchased it for a lower price from other sellers.

i was look for new headset for my pc which i use to play game and i did lot of research and one of the recommend was this headphones. But when i use it i was very disappointed because i could barely hear anything though them. Even my old earbuds sounded better then this headphones.Not only that you also have to pay for shipping when returning it.I hope you this review helps who ever is reading it.

Boosted bass, muted highs, pushed back mids, and twice as expensive as the price the 9500 regularly dips to? What was Philips thinking?The SHP9500s were a bit grainy, so for the 9600s they got rid of this by tuning out the highs.The SHP9500s were a bit bass lacking, so they boosted the bass so hard it bleeds into the mids, then they tuned down the mids to mitigate this(?)The build quality, materials, and clamp are all more or less the same. They're slightly different but in practice I got used to both equally. The only thing I really noticed was the 9600s being a bit rougher, but nothing serious.I'm not really a massive fan of the 9500s, but you don't have many well built options for open backs under $100, so they're still one of the best options. The 9600s aren't even close, even if they were the same price as the 9500s.

I just bought these in January. I don't often use headphones, I go in spurts with listening to music, watching videos, or as of late, watching/listening to tech training videos online. So I have not used these headphones very much overall.Last night, I started having audio issues. I have been troubleshooting it today, with my laptop, as well as using my smartphone, to see if the problem is with the headphones or possibly something else. The common denominator has been the headphones.I started looking at some of the critical reviews on here, and I see others have had problems and that Philips will not honor the warranty, etc. I am going to seek a resolution which will determine if the 1-star is left here. If it is, then nothing positive resulted. I SPENT $62 on these headphones, which is not a 'small amount' for me personally. And then for them to go bad in four months time from only periodic use?? I remember companies based on their products and my experiences with them so we will see.
