Sound quality is excellent. I'm using it with a vmoda micro to play PS5 online and it is much better immersion than the experience with my 5 year old Hyper X Cloud II. The open back really contributes to have a clear sound for games.Highly recommended.
I'm not an audiophile, so $130 is really expensive for headphones (SHP9600).The sound quality is great and can match my $200 EDIFIER R1700BT bookshelf speakers.I prefer sounds that are more warm and soupy over tinny and accurate, and these headphones seem to do the job.The clamping force is moderate and is decently comfortable with the foam-like ear cushions.Doesn't feel that great on my glasses though but I think that is an issue with all headphones of this kind.Despite being open-back, outside sounds are still slightly muffled which I don't like.My headphones also came with a cable boom mic with inline controls-- very handy to have.Mic quality was OK and being able to control the volume with my fingers is really nice.Overall I think I could recommend this to fellow non-audiophiles that still somewhat care about sound quality.
The Philips SHP9500 headphones, out of the box, don't look like much. Solid construction, if a little plasticky. They look nice enough for the price, but how they feel and sound is more important to me than aesthetics. The headband is plenty flexible, and I've worn them for 4+ hours with no strain on my head or ears. The pads are quite comfortable, although they probably will not last forever. My best fit is just above a 2 on both extending ear-arms. The included cable is very long (10 ft.), but good quality, and I actually use it for plugging into audio equipment, and use a 1m cable for listening from a phone or computer. The open-back keeps your ears from getting sweaty, and the cups themselves are quite large. I have pretty average sized ears, and they feel a little small in the headphones, they barely touch the edges of the actual pads.As far as sound goes, the soundstage is just under the right amount of open-ness for me. However, the music itself always sounds great. Metal, jazz, electronic, folk, it all sounds very natural. The frequency response feels even across the board, making them a decent pair of monitoring headphones. There's of course better equipment on the market, but the next appreciable improvement in sound quality are the Shure 840s or the AudioTechica ATH-M50s, both of which are about twice as expensive. Comfort wise, these Philips headphones are as good if not better, due to their light weight and minimum clamping on the head and ears.
Excellent for the price, however, I think my set was defective. I listened to different music from different sources and one side sounded lower than the other. Don't know if it's the cable or the headphones. Other than that, it reproduced music faithfully, and without eq
This was my first pair of open back headphones. I mainly use them for gaming and streaming. It was a weird experience at first coming from other gaming headphones that were somewhat isolating, so beaing able to hear more of the things around you took a few minutes to get used to. I run these with a plug in mic (vmoda) and I really like the sound quality for the price. they are light, breathable, and although the earcups are a bit shallow which caused my ears to get irrtated after long sessions from being pressed by the drivers, I stuck some think strips of foam inside the cup and they now are super comfortable.
I bought these from the seller PHOTOTECH, and if I remember correctly, they were listed as "like new" but they look brand new in the original box. I paid less than 60 bucks for these which I think is an absolute steal, I don't think I could have gotten a better deal anywhere else in the world.Anyways, I've been using these for around 4 months now paired with the V Moda boom pro (amazing mic), and they're great. At first I was a bit underwhelmed coming from the HyperX Cloud Alpha S, but I think I just needed some time to adjust, maybe break in the headphones, and now I can say these are a very good set of headphones for the price.I was afraid they would be lacking in bass because thats what I've grown used to thorughout the years, but they are not, the bass is nearly a perfect amount. The soundstage is great compared to the closed back HyperX's. And the build quality is also next level to me because ive been using gaming headsets my whole life (Razer, turtle beach, HyperX) and I can already tell these will outlast all the headphones I've had in the past.In terms of comfort the headphones overall feel pretty good. The earcups are nice and big but I have to admit, the earpads these come with are not great. They are cloth earpads but the texture of the cloth is not perfectly soft compared to the earpads on the HyperX Alphas. Otherwise, these are great in terms of comfort.Recently in the past month, I've had a bit of an issue. Sometimes when a lower frequency sound is played (bass), the left driver will make a quiet buzzing sound. When I notice it, it is impossible to ignore and it drives me nuts until I fix it. I have to air out the left earcup with a pressurized air can quite a lot, and then eventually it goes away. But then a few days later it comes back. It is really annoying at times where I'm trying to relax and then I hear that sound in my ear.But other than that, I have had 0 issues at all.
I loved the 9500's. It had a harshness in high tones that would hurt my ears, but it still sounded great. I could just turn the volume down and it would be slightly less harsh. The positives outweigh the negatives for me.The 9600's sound like MUD. It literally sounds like someone took a pillow and is trying to muffle the sound of the 9600's. They are just so bad. I wouldn't recommend them. It's not even good for gaming. You can't tell where sounds are coming from at all. Voices don't have the same clarity that the 9500's did. They just sound like "oh yeah these are headphones." I don't feel immersed at all really. I liked having door knocking sounds sound like door knocking sounds. I liked being able to hear the grass crunch in uncomfortable detail. The 9600's is like eating plain white bread and nothing else. The 9600's somehow have worse soundstaging? Why are the 9600's more expensive than the 9500's? Probably something with how it's manufactured slightly differently. It has that golden accent that the 9500's don't. It also has SHP9600 printed on the end of its cable. If you take off the ear pads, you can see that the housing is also slightly different from the 9500's. Just a guess. If you need data on the sound, that's already out there. I'm just saying, the 9600's sound like garbage.
so this headset have nice sound if you wanna hear music, but that's it.the SHP9500 have good reputation for cheap gaming headset and the SHP9600 by all the reviews out there stated that they are better but not worth if the price gap is big...anyway for gaming this headset no more the SUCK!use equalizer with them for gaming, that's not even a recommendation its a must.the problem that is not common headset so there ain't EQ recommended settings...anyway, im sad i did not buy regular "gaming" headset...
I've owned these for less than a year. the plastic that connects the headband has since broke. the headphones have never been dropped, and only used in moderation. I contacted Philips for a warranty repair or replacement, and as others have said, Philips doesn't cover things for physical damage, defects, or problems. which is insane. I even double checked their warranty terms and nowhere does it say this. if it had,I would have never bought these. bought them for $140 when they were brand new. save your money and buy a better brand that doesn't break so quickly or has better warranty protection.
When I received the product, the first problem that was found was that there was an annoying buzzing in the left ear, repeating, going in and out in a pattern. I am not happy. My 30$ headphones from two years ago had fewer problems from out of the box.Additionally, the cord is too short. It's not long enough to comfortably wrap around my computer to my chair or allow me to stray far from it. Note that if you require a long cord you WILL have to buy a USB extension.I am disappointed that I spent $100 on a defective product, and I will be returning it, or attempting to get a replacement. That being said, I am impressed with the build quality of the product, and the clarity of of the microphone. I don't know too much about audio quality, but It does seem to be something more than your standard headphones. The noise cancellation is superb, It can almost be used as earmuffs. However, the buzzing was a make or break issue. These headphones are practically unusable. Even during loud music I can still hear the buzzing in the background. Please note that if you buy these headphones, you may find problems with it out of the box.UPDATE: Upon receiving a replacement, the buzzing was still there. In the left ear piece. I updated my drivers, checked for electronic interference, tried different USB ports, even a different PC. It's. Still. There. After researching in the reviews, I noticed that a few other buyers found the same problem, and they found out that the buzzing was indeed caused by the LEDs. I tested this myself and have verified that changing the color of the LEDs changes the intensity and volume of the buzzing, suggesting they are linked. There is not even an option to turn the LEDs off to my knowledge. This is unacceptable. Please, do NOT buy the TAG6105. $100 headphones aren't worth design choices as poor as these. I will be returning the product, and buying a more worthwhile headset.
