Pellets burn and smoke great…. Meat had a good taste
*This seems like a great deal and the pulled pork came out with awesome flavor. *Works great in the Trager, no long pellets or dust to clog. *Seems to burn longer than the Trager pellets I was using before, feels like it only takes 3/4 as many pellets to get the job done.
I think the competition blend is the most versatile, but it lacks that signature punch some other woods have. Not bad since I don't have to empty out my pellet box, but wish it had a little more punch and less "complexity". I'm new to smoking, so I'll try other woods but these pellets are just fine.
My husband bought several bags of both these Classic and the Fruit pellets to store in our basement (He bought a "Z Grill" earlier this year). As of today, we haven't opened the fruit pellets, but have almost finished one bag of these. 'm not the biggest meat eater, but I LOVE the smoky taste that permeates everything we put out on the grill. I was raised with my dad grilling w/ charcoal, but these really changed my mind. These aren't dusty, so hubby says there's no waste. Thankfully, they last long (at least 12 hours of grilling time for the 30 lb bag). I also took a photo of the pellets still leftover in our grill.
This is just a great blend. Hickory and mesquite together give a really good smokie flavor. The pecan helps balance out the blend. This blend is all about good ole Texas BBQ. I've been using this combination of wood flavors for over 25 years both professionally and at home.
I have used other brands, but I prefer this brand over the others. The price, quality and final results of my food is great. I will not use anything else. I prefer the classic blend.
Great product and great price. Favor is great for beef. Not much difference from other brands but pit boss definitely knows what their doing and you cant go wrong with their stuff.
I have yet to use this blend, but I wanted to comment on how well this shipment was packed. Reading some prior reviews some folks were unsatisfied, because the product arrived in less than ideal condition. My order arrived in perfect condition.
Bought these pellets for my Traeger and it has been by far the best pellets for heat. My grill has constantly hit 425. It does use a bit more pellets when on high but I love the temperature. I smoked pork loins and beef jerky and both turned out phenomenal. Save some cash and buy these over other brands. Plus they put off a nice thick smoke!
let me clarify my rating, the Pit Boss pellets are great, 5 star, as I've bought them for years from another big box store. my rating of 2 comes from Walmart, who apparently doesn't know these are not supposed to get wet/moist as the pellets will break/crack and eventually return to sawdust. when i saw them available on Walmart, free delivery, and cheaper, I bought. I purchased multiple quantities of multiple 'flavors'. multiple sizes. my first bag was a 40lb bag competition blend. My 2nd was Mesquite in a resealable bag. I have 7 more bags still in the Walmart boxes/bags they were delivered in. On opening, i saw a lot of pellet 'pieces' and as i started to move these to my storage bucket (with a sifter for the dust) i was pretty upset with the amount of sawdust mixed in. i ended up having to sift smaller amounts of the product at a time, before putting into my grill hopper. as i stated the product itself is great, but so far the first 60-70lbs used have created an unnecessary mess, and a considerable amount of unusable product. the price is good, but buyer beware. sawdust in your pellet grill can cause issues. picture red bucket with sifter: bucket was emptied, filled just under 1/2 way with pellets and sifted (look through the holes in sifter, it's full and still a large amount of dust to deal with) only allowed two pics, i have plenty more. buyer beware.
