Plaid 40645E Unpainted Wood Surface, Cigar Box, 1 Piece, 8.53" x 8.13" x 1.75"

This is a well made birch box that has many potential uses. As I have access to a laser engraver, I created a design for the top and used the laser to engrave a detailed piece of artwork on the top with a personalized name. I then lined the box with red felt. It is now a beautiful jewelry box for my grand niece to open at Christmas.

I bought this box because I recently saw a YouTube video by Rybonator where he used this and some of those really wide craft sticks to make a portable dice box for dungeons and dragons games. It is made of a cheaper balsa wood but it took stain, woodburning, and paint very well. The box is the perfect size to carry a few sets of dice, a couple of minis, and writing tools.

Nice box at a great price. The hardware is a little cheap but it's working. Since the wood seems to be Balsawood, I used a specialty recipe for making an oil-and-vinegar sealant. I even added scented oil so that it smells nice. I don't feel the need to add any additional varnish or polyurethane or whatever, but I think that could be done if this sealant is applied first. I would recommend this product, and I will buy it again.

So cute! Substantial enough to DIY with, or to just throw on a light coat of stain and store your "secrets" in!

I love this neat little box to store pencils and craft things. I can't wait to personalize it with decorations too.

Very good deal, price is great. Received 2 days after ordering. Not sure how I'm going to decorate yet, but have several ideas. Will buy again.

This is a great value for the price. The quality of the wood and finishing is excellent. The quality of the hardware is ... good. If you are planning on using this extensively, I would suggest replacing the hardware with better quality alternatives. It is well worth the price, though, and i would recommend it.

Loved this as a small memory box, until my paint dried and a tiny bit of the sticker tacky managed to remain on the lid and stand out through through paint. I've tried painting over it, but the spot remains a darker blue than the rest of the lid. May need to sand it down, or try white paint. Either way, be sure to intentionally check the board after you remove the sticker if you plan to paint it (more than a quick surface swipe).

Was glad to find a cost comparable unfinished cigar box to the Darice ones I usually purchased that seem to no longer be available. The wood is very thin, in a pack of 12, 2 were damaged (splintered and latch broken) but Walmart replaced at no charge. They are great for crafts as long as you don't expect them to be very durable or thick wood. For $5 they are great.

The box at first was perfect. But upon closer inspection I saw that the bottom layer of wood was slowly coming unglued from the rest of the box. Other than that it is a cute little box.
