These Ammo Cans are Great! Buy them when you see them, once they are in stock they sell out very fast! They have an "O-Ring" which is great, most brands do not!! These are Made of a harder Plastic not the old Metal type. Shipping is very fast!! Thanks!
A lot sturdier than the price would suggest. I have 6 boxes of .45 acp in each one and that weighs in at 16 pounds. Locks down tight, no give in the handle or lid when lifted. Seem as sturdy as most steel models I've seen at four times the price. I would advise stocking up on these babies before someone figures out they screwed up on the price. And to beat all, these boxes are made by PLANO! The best darned box makers in the business.
All around good quality made plastic ammo box, so whether your wanting to store ammo or just have a water tight box to storage important stuff; this is a good value. Having said that this box is not a substitute for a home safe and is not fire proof or indestructible. Use your best judgement when thinking about how you will use these boxes.
these plano ammo box are very nice. I used them to store my 2oz craft paint's and also my mini RCA projector.. these plastic ammo crate's are perfect for miniature hobby and Art's %26 Craft.. these are very strong and durable there not flimsy well designed...
These boxes are a great value, at under $7! They are a bit light-weight in the lid construction, so when lifting them by the handle I think that the lid could flex enough to allow the seal to part (gap open). They are not really finished out well after casting, so I took a bic lighter and briefly hit the high spots on the box's sealing edge with the flame and pressed or scraped the little rough tabs left from casting off so the seal would seat better. When one wiggles the lid around while the boxes are sealed, it seems to shift around a bit. This would indicate to me that the seal is not fully seated. The rubber gasket is removeable though and one side is flat where the other is rounded. By removing and flipping over the seal, I got the boxes to close alot tighter. These boxes combined with the "Stack On" brand dessicant packs (at around $10.50 for ten packets which are supposed to last for upwards of 6 weeks in an open environment) are a great way to cheaply but safely store ammunition for very long-term. These packets are also available through Walmart. Long-term ammunition storage can be more of an issue in places where there is more humidity (like where I live, the humidity level is, on average, above 80%). If a person desires to store ammunition or other items for YEARS, a little silicone plumber's grease would help prolong the life and sealing of the rubber gasket. OVERALL: The boxes are very well designed The Boxes are notched on the top and bottom to stack securely They are VERY cost-effective
This box is plastic not metal which means it won't rust but it also isn't very strong. It has a rubber seal but I'm not certain it's a tight fit because the whole box is a bit flimsy. However, for my non-ammo purposes, these shortcomings were acceptable for the sale price I paid. If I was using heavy ammo in the field and wanted a sealed box this is not the one.
First and foremost, Walmart o wants top be an Amazon, promised these would be delivered in 3 days form the day I bought, 7 days later they arrived. The item purchased is very, very light weight and I do not believe they will hold up to a lot of wer and tear. If you are going to store some things and not go in and out, they will most likely suffice. I have older units of this brand that are more sturdy. Again, don't believe Walmart's delivery times.
I bought 2 of these planning to store about 1,000 rounds of 9mm in each. So much for that idea! These are VERY small. Like HALF of what a normal ammo can is. I ended up putting all my defense ammo in these, then using the other 2 big ammo cans for the bulk 9mm buy. Not a bad product, but if I would have known they were this small, I would have bought something else.
Plano made great product. Problem is what Walmart sent is not what is in the picture. What they sent is half the height of what they show in the add. The picture is of a different product.
This is claimed to be water-resistant, but it most definitely is not. I understand the difference between water-resistant and water-proof, but this is definitely not either. The problem is the sides of the lid do not even make contact with the o-ring seal, because the sidewalls are so filmsy. If you flip the container upside down and push on the sidewalls you can see there is physically no contact between the container wall and seal. If you left this container out in the rain, it would probably get water inside if it was not standing upright, because water will drip off the lid and inside due to capillary action. In fact, just leaving this container outside on a humid night, it will get condensation and water inside because it's not sealed. The simplest fix is they need to make the o-ring thicker at the factory. I have not tried it, but I supposed you could take two o-rings and try to double them up.
