Plantonix Buffered Coco Bliss Premium Soil Amendment & Growing Medium Block - 10 lb

I like the Plantonix Coco Bliss as a medium for my garden growth setup, from micro greens, to seedlings, raised beds, coco coir plus vermiculite and perlite are a great combo for my seeding process. Plantonix has all the right solid amendments. I'm pleased that this product is already buffered reducing the sodium content. Highly recommended!

Coconut husk added to mixing pots and plants are thriving in their container. New Blooms within days. Lettuce, strawberries, and cantalope are growing nicely.

I usually don't re-pot plants this time of year, but a gnat infestation warranted it. This coco coir is a delight to work with. It comes in a nice compact brick that's easy to handle and store. It is light and fluffy and really quite beautiful. The fact that it's buffered is an added bonus. It was clean and hydrated quickly. One plant already seems happier in it. TIP: You'll need a bigger bucket than you think. Hydrate small sections. It's a lot of product. TIP 2: Don't add too much water. Give it a good quench, wait and add a little bit more or else you end up with a slurry. Ask me how I know?

Coco Coir is a great replacement for peat moss. This was easy to hydrate and mix with additives to create a great potting soil. I am slowing replacing all my indoor and outdoor plants with coco coir soil. I add perlite and compost to create a perfect mix for my plants and it is great for moisture retention. Stays airy too so you don’t need to be concerned on root rot. This one has a great texture, isn’t’ chunky and my plants are happy!

This is the first time I have used coco coir and I am excited to see how it does in my garden and in pots. It says that it supports root growth by preventing soil compaction and providing consistent moisture. This comes as one large brick and I recommend wearing a mask if you are only cutting a little off at a time. It is very dusty and you do not want to breathe it in. I took off 2 cups of coir and added 3 cups hot water to it in a Ziploc bag and waited 45 minutes. It absorbed it all and I had leftover coir for the next pot. It did have some drainage as I took it out of the bag to fill my pot. You can see the coco fibers and ground bits in the texture.

I’ve used this as a way to start seeds since it’s sterile; less chance of damping off. Also I add this to cheap potting soil when seedlings need more room.

This product is wonderful for planting in spring. I bought it now so it can fully expand by planting time.

This block of compressed coconut coir is large (10 lbs), and when soaked in water, it increases in volume several times, so it is a good value. It is used like peat moss, which really should not be used anymore due to environmental and other reasons. I didn't rate it at 5 stars because it is difficult to separate a smaller amount from the single large block. I needed less than 25% of it, and I had to use a chisel and hammer to break off that amount. Afterwards, soaking it and mixing it was easy. The coir helps lighten clay soil so it drains better, while helping sandy soil retain moisture.
