I bought this and used this week. love that it is soap and water clean up. Canyon Brown on cedar columns nails the look!
Used the Canyon Brown on treated wood for some outdoor furniture builds. Easy to apply and did a quick job of covering wood with a rich color. Hoping it lasts long . Compliments on color choice.
4 years into canyon brown transparent stain on a 30 yr old deck. Normal power wash and deck prep before use. Each year perhaps 5-10% peals off to wood and have to recoat. Now extremely splotchy with most deck looking like a dark brown solid with these splotches of transparent stain. What solid color stain product should I change to and do I need to professionally have it sanded bare before applying? Note that the deck is in northern Michigan so warm in summer but buried in snow for a couple of months in the winter. Coating seems to peel off from expansion/contraction and moisture.
Made our deck very slick! As seniors, we do not need anything else that would maybe cause a fall. Furniture slid across deck like it was on rollers. Be careful in selecting this product!
I have 800 sq ft of decking. We used all in one prep cleaning solution which brought out the grain in the wood nicely. We applied Cedar Naturaltone as instructed in September 2019.. Suppose to be a four year protection on decks. More like a four month protection. It started peeling off in March 2020.
Purchased this product for our new deck. Used as product instructed and the results are horrible. The color after the product dried was very inconsistent but figured that would be remedied with another coat. I didn't have any stain left so just left the deck as it was for a week. I come home from work today after it had rained for the first time after staining the deck to find it pealing and rubbing off as I walked on it. THIS PRODUCT COMPLETELY RUINED MY NEW DECK. I'm not sure what I will have to do do try and fix all the damage. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. I hope this will help so that someone else does not experience the mess I went through by using this.
We used this product to protect a brand new redwood deck. We allowed 31/2 months for the wood to cure. The deck & new Fortress railing turn out to exceptionally nice. However, the color of this Valspar stain is way too orange. Ugh! In fact it's more of a western pumpkin color and clashes against the black sand color of the railing. We wanted a more natural looking deck to blend with the environment in the foothills. The application was also a challenge leaving way too many brush/roller marks. All the expense & effort down the drain!
We decided to stain our deck this summer has been several yrs since the last time it's been sealed. Picked this brand thought it was a good product, we prepared our deck, power washed allowed it to dry for several days before staining. Applied the 1st coat after drying needed to have a second coat due to it didnt cover well with the 1st coat. We finished it this Sunday weather had been perfect all weekend to stain. I was so happy with the look of it when we were done it looked beautiful!! Until I can home tonight 2 days after we stained, it had rained most of the day, I stepped on my deck and immediately noticed where the rain was hitting it it was literally bubbling in certain areas!! I'm obvious furious about this, we have a large deck took the whole weekend to finish !! I dont understand why this happened, it didn't look like this yesterday it was beautiful & now it looks like crap!! Very dissatisfied with this product, I would not recommend this product after seeing what happens. I will be contacting the store where my husband purchased it. Where does the 4 year warranty came into effect when it didn't even last 2 days!???!
We applied this semi-transparent stain about 9 months ago and followed the instructions exactly how they said to do it and as you can see from the pictures, it now looks like this, absolutely horrible product. DO NOT BUY
Transparent honey gold deck stain is horrible . The color is so yellow. Do not buy. I will have to now sand the entire deck and start over. What a waste of money.
