PLASTIK Valspar Multicolor One-Coat Exterior Stain and Sealer Solid

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must say this is the best stain and sealer I have ever used. One can certainly goes a long way. I was able to paint an entire outside furniture patio set and a small porch and I still have a little left. It only took one coat and looks amazing. I cannot wait to get some more of this product to finish all of my outside items. This makes my furniture look new and gives it a look that will last a long time.

I applied Valspar Solid stain (Simply Cedar Tint) to my redwood deck which had weathered due to fading of the oil based semi-transparent stain applied previously. I sanded to bare wood to remove any residual stain. Application was easy and covered well. After one-year the finish looks as it did when applied. Great product so far with excellent water repellent attributes.

In the process of staining my log cabin home. The wood was sun damaged and the solid seems to be doing a great service for restoring and protecting from any further damage. Does feel like more of a paint Bohan a stain so do test areas first before committing.

Purchased last year to recolor my deck that had a solid stain on it from about 9 years ago. The old stain was still holding on well, just faded pretty bad. I didn't pressure was the deck, as it can damage the current stain, but I did use the Valspar deck cleaner and then rinsed it with a water hose. The deck looks great again and the stain adhered well to the surface. The only thing that gave me any issues was the fact that it dries very quickly. The salesperson told me not to stain in temps above 85, and never in direct sunlight, due to it fact that it can affect the ability of the product to adhere properly. Well, I quickly understood. It was in the mid 80's and it was drying in what seemed like minutes, rather than hours. Had to stop and start the next morning when the temp was in the late 60's.

Love the product and how it covers, but don't expect the color to match the swatch. For the house, we had to have them custom tint it to get closer to the swatch. Now we have a custom color we'll have to match in the future. For our deck, 2 different tries with 2 different colors and still no good, so we'll be returning the product...which is difficult considering the COVID-19 shelter-in-place and store limits currently in effect (wish we could order colored paint online and do curbside pickup).

I spent a lot of time prepping the surfaces, and definitely followed the application instructions. The stain is easy to apply and looked great for about 6 months. By the end of year one, there's been a lot of flaking and it continues to get worse. I certainly expected better results.

So my neighbor had me do her deck and she asked me to make sure we didn't have to reduce it for anthor 5 to 6 years well I went with valspar and as you can guess didn't make it a year so know I'm searching for a better stain and sealer and out my money and working again I wouldn't buy this again

I bought 3 gallons of Valspar solid stain in light gray last summer, 2021. It went on great and looked nice for the summer. I had prepped my 3 year old deck according to instructions and was happy with the results. BUT after only one winter in NYS my deck is a peeling mess! All that time and money wasted and now I have to figure out how to redo this mess which will cost me more time and money. Valspar is junk and I will never buy it again. Too bad I couldn't give it 0 stars.

I purchased a home last spring with a relatively new (1 year old) 450 sq ft deck that the previous homeowners built. Knowing the importance of proper surface prep, I took all necessary precautions to ensure that the deck was ready, clean of dirt/mildew before staining, even spending the extra money to purchase Valspar deck cleaner/wood prep. The picture shows the surface of the deck damp to show the peeling more clearly. I applied the stain last summer and it looked great. I first noticed localized peeling between snowfalls in the winter, hoping it was just a certain spot. Now the peeling covers all the horizontal surfaces of the deck. This stain did not behave like a stain, but rather just regular paint. The stain did not penetrate the wood which is obvious from the peeling that is taking place. I'm very disappointed that the stain didn't even make it through one winter. I spent a lot of effort, time and money to make my home look good. Now I will have to invest more time and money to fix it.

Looked amazing but only held up for two weeks. Did the railings, steps, went on vacation, came home to the steps needing redone. Thought someone scraped them so redone them. Unfortunately I went back to purchase the same thing for the floor. I moved furniture onto our porch last night & noticed this morning, the stain under all my rockers has come off. This took my HOURS to paint the spindles & assuming if not covered it wouldn't last through rain. Not sure how to fix this, not to think about the time wasted, time to fix it & the money just makes me sick! Yes, I powerwashed, prepped according to directions. Definitely not my first DIY & I always purchased Valspar but wouldn't anymore.
