For the price, this has got to be one of the best Xmas presents. I bought it for my 2 1/2 year old, granddaughter, she was able to do basic functions like taking the pictures and projecting the pictures. If she set it down, her 10 year old sister would pick it up and play with it. Then mom, then grandmother. It was certainly her favorite present, especially as she learned all the the ways to change the picture. If I could ask for any improvement, it would be a little brighter projector, although we have no white walls to project against and the room is fairly light.
I bought this camera for my 5 year old granddaughter for Christmas and can't wait to give it to her! She is a camera fanatic and loves to take pictures with my camera (hundreds every time she gets her hands on it) so this will be such a treat for her. I have played with it already for hours and it is such much fun and has so many features you cannot list them all! Advice: Buy this for your grandchildren and they will not use your phone or camera!
The Playskool Showcam 2-in-1 Digital Camera/projector is awesome! My 3 year old grand daughter loves to take pictures with my I Phone. This gift was perfect for her. She takes pictures of everyone and everything and flash them on the wall. Its great for displaying her creativeness.
Camera is very easy to use, kids love that they can add funny items to the pictures and then project them on the wall in a 1 or 2 foot size to show off to everyone. Hours and hours of fun.
I'm a photographer and my daughter always wants to use my Camera. She wants to be like her Mom. But because my camera it's too expensive to let her play with it, she can't use it. So now with the Playskool ShowCam she is having the time of her life. It looks just like a real camera, so she feels is like mine. She quickly learned how to use the buttons and loves how she can project her photos in the walls around the house. So, now everything is being photographed!
I have a 4 year old little girl who loves nothing more than to act like Mom and take lots of pictures. Unfortunately I can not let her play with my camera because it is just to much for her to mess up. The Playskool Showcam is not only very lite, but the material is very durable. When opening the camera I showed my daughter how to use it in less than 5 seconds. She has no problem fully functioning the product without any help from me! The projection feature is really awesome too! She loves taking photos and putting them on any surface that she can! All in all this camera is at the top of my list for products for the learning child!
This is a great camera for a preschooler or early elementary child that loves to take pictures of everything. My 5 year old loves to take pictures of the whole family including the dog. What makes this camera different is that it includes stamps that you can include in your pictures, like adding funny hair, sunglasses, or astronaunt helmet. There also different animals like a skunk, frog, elephant, or dog. There are a few short picture stories that you do as well, where there is a series of four pictures that tell and story and you can add the faces onto the charaters. My son's favorite was the super hero story. You are also able to take normal pictures with this camera that do not have stamps, or stories. Another thing that makes this camera different is that there is a projector. This is the part that looks like the lens. It states in the directions that you should be about 24 inches from the wall or what you are projecting onto, but my son loves to lay it on his bed and project his pictures onto the ceiling. You are able to focus the projector so that the pictures are still clear. If the area is not dark it is difficult to see the pictures. The camera does not include the cable that you need to connect it to the computer. It takes a small USB cable. We have quite a few of these so was not a big deal. The camera uses 4 AA batteries. The camera has good battery life. I would definately recommend this product to anyone who is interested, but beware you may have your picture taken when you least expect it.
First of all, what kid doesn't love to get a new toy? Especially one that is unexpected and for no other reason than just because. My 4 year old son could not wait for me to get it out of the box. Which, did not take any longer than one would expect. Lucky that I keep batteries, AA, on hand at all times. Once, we got the camera ready, we read the directions together and got started. It only took me showing him a couple of times how to use all the neat buttons and controls. Then he was off to take pictures and play slide shows for me. He spent 4 hours the first day with his camera and has brought it to his Grandparents house and on a camping trip with his cousins. The only drawback to the camera is the use of batteries. In a few hours, the batteries die. After going through multiple packages of batteries in the first couple of days, we invested in rechargeable batteries. They still die, not quite as fast, but at least we can recharge them and then he is back to taking pictures in no time.
PROS: * User and child friendly * Large buttons which are perfect for little hands. * Creative ways to customize photos with animation. Kids can be creative. * Sound of photos (Cat = Meow, Dog = Bark) was an eye opener for my son, he loved that part. * Projector feature which is unique to what's out in the market. * Color of the camera makes it attractive to children. * Durable, ours has been dropped a few times and it keeps on working. - My son doesn't use the strap. * Good amount of memory, can take 1,000 photos. CONS: * Grainy screen, need to look directly at the screen to see the image. * Need A LOT of light to take quality photos, otherwise photos are hard to see. * No USB cable, wasn't a problem for me but for some it might be. * Battery life was short, probably due to my son playing with this and leaving it on. Had to change the batteries twice in a week. OVERALL: From the minute my son turned this on, he has yet to put this down. The pro's outweighs the con's because at the end of the day, this is for children not adults. You are not going to get the quality photos as you would from a point/shoot camera with flash. My son loves this camera, it's great for him to learn on and be creative. The sound effects gave this an extra pop and the animation keeps him running to Mommy and Daddy to show us what's he's done. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
Hi I bought this camera for my 3 1/2 year old. The camera is fairly simple to operate however the picture and projectiona are so dark. It was disappointing knowing that the technology that is out there, it coudl be so much better. She uses an old camer of mine and seems to like that one better because she can see the pictures beter.
