This is a simple, fast-paced team game that seems made for a fun get-together with friends, especially if your group enjoys loud, silly, slightly punitive party games. The adult/explicit terms are clearly part of the joke, so it is best for the right crowd, but they help set the tone for a game that does not take itself seriously.We recently finished our first evening playing Poetry for Neanderthals Uncensored, and I will say that we really enjoyed our time with it! The one-syllable speaking rule is easy to understand but more difficult than you think when playing against a timer, and that led to plenty of funny mistakes. There is a blow-up bat that adds to it with a goofy penalty when someone messes up. What Works Well:Team-Based Conflict: The team format keeps everyone involved, whether they are guessing, giving clues, or waiting for the other side to slip up. It creates a fun back-and-forth energy in which both teams feel they always have a real chance to win.One-Syllable Rule: The best part of the game may just be having to speak only in one-syllable words. Sure, that sounds simple, but the way everyone tries ends up being pretty ridiculous, and it kept us all laughing.Quick, Equal, and Re-playable: It's short, easy, and everyone has a fair chance. It's also not just for serious gamers, making it a strong pick for any group.Where It Could Fall a Bit Short:Not for Every Group or Everyone: You should be fully aware that it's a game for adults, as the rating implies, and it does have explicit terms. Just know your audience. With the right group, it is hilarious, but it may not be the best fit for players who prefer cleaner party games or some families – as my wife and I would avoid playing it with our adult kids.Game Length Note:Rounds are short enough, and the total length is determined by the number of players (everyone gets a turn). So, it could never be too long, and its quick pace could easily lead to multiple rounds/games in one sitting.The Verdict:Poetry for Neanderthals Uncensored is a great party game for adults who enjoy fun, somewhat silly competition, quick rounds, and laughable communication challenges.

We played this with 5 people. One friend had played the original before so had an idea how to play, but the instructions are pretty easy to follow. It took a couple of rounds before we really got the hang of it, but once we did, it was hilarious.This is the Uncensored version, so explicit content, ages 17+ is the recommendation. Familiarity with Urban Dictionary is helpful because some of this will go over your head without it. However, you don't necessarily need to know what the phrase means to play it. We didn't end the round per the game rules. We were having too much fun and didn't care to be competitive so we just kept playing. This one is going into regular rotation for adult game night.Highly recommend for the right crowd!

It was a little hard to understand the paper directions so I would definitely suggest going to the website instead. Overall I absolutely loved this game and would recommend.

It takes a while for me to figure out the more adult oriented games since I've been on baby alert mode with layers of parental control for years now but it's still super fun to play with other couples or adult family members! Loads of fun with a twist for laughter! Definitely a game night favorite

At base it is a game involving a set of cards that you need to use one syllable words to give clues as to what your naughty card says. The spank stick was a huge hit (no pun intended) with my party and overall we had a lot of fun with this! One star off for it being a bit more complicated than it needed to be but still doable.

We weren't too sure at first, but we ended up enjoying alot more than we thought. We laughed so much! We played boys vs. Girls. Plus the wacking stick cracked us up. Lol. Trying to talk in one syllable words isn't quite as easy as you'd think. I recommend trying out this game. I started looking into other games by Exploding Kittens brand.

This game is very similar to taboo but you have to use 1-syllable words (an added dimension of difficulty). This uncensored version can get raunchy which is fun with friends, but really awkward with family! lol The inflatable club adds another component to the game when you get to hit the “poet” for violating a rule. It can get pretty brutal if you're playing with close friends. Overall, a really fun game and I hope they make expansion packs for new cards.
