Very functional, can be used for work and casual

I needed a backpack for travel, and this Herschel bag fits the bill. I wanted something lightweight but sturdy, with enough space and compartments to keep my things organized. I use it as my “personal item” when I fly along with a navy Away carry on roller bag. I chose the light tan color (can't remember the name) and it's the perfect classic preppy neutral w my navy bag. I have tried so many other backpacks and ended up returning them bc they are cheaply made or have weird zipper situations, but this one is perfect. I had been using my kids' old Herschel school backpacks and decided I deserve one of my own :) I know it will last years and years

Great bag, have used the pop quiz daily for 8yrs now. Zip broke after 8yrs and Herschel replaced mine for free, pretty awesome warranty. Love this bag for the protected top pouch, the soft padded laptop compartment (comfortably fits my 16" MacBook), and just being comfortable to wear. I have used it for uni and work without any issues. Only issue with my new bag is the zips and bag are quite stiff. I know this will resolve over time, but would be nice to not have to fight with my bag.

I bought a new bag because my previous one was getting really worn out. I bought the same bag in a different color this time. My other one lasted about 8 years and I use it every day with a lot of weight. This bag was the perfect color, and it shipped really fast. Very pleased and would buy again.

I bought this last year. It still staying strong. I thought it was suppose to come with a water bottle pocket inside the bag, it did not. I also thought it was suppose to come with a earbud wire hole thingy, it did not. I didn't really need those pockets personally so I just stuck with the bag instead of returning it. However if that is a deal breaker I suggest choosing a different style. Overall, I would say the bag does its job.

I have received two different backpacks of in the black version and both of them have totally ripped where the synthetic leather is causing it to pull everywhere. The actual backpack is holding up great but I emailed and filled a warranty both times but still haven't heard back for the one.

This backpack seems sturdy enough but my issue is with the zippers. The zippers are hard to pull to close up the backpack. I can deal with it if its just one zipper but all the zippers won't close easily. On the positive side once I do zipper up, at least I know the contents won't fall out of the backpack easily. I'm hoping that with time, the zippers will give more easily. Other than that, it seems to be a sturdy backpack that will last a few years.

The bottom of the bag and the handle on top is not the nice fake leather that the other bags have, it's just the canvas material that the rest of the bag has. This is my second pop quiz, and I prefer the leather one I had before this one, as I bring my bag to the gym a lot and I want the extra durability on the bottom. It's not the end of the world (it's still a decent bag) I just wish the website made it more explicit that the—saddle brown!— bottom of the bag, unlike a saddle, is canvas, not leather.

The coating on the grab handle and the bottom of the backpack looks like leather on the pictures but in fact it's a very cheap coating layer. When the bag first arrived the coating on the handle is already peeling off. After less than 3 uses the coating on bottom of the backpack and the handle is completely shredded and flakes off like cheap plastic. I can't understand why they would choose this material and the fact that it comes in damaged is just mind blowing. Do not buy

I purchased a Pop Quiz backpack for my daughter's first year of high school. She was looking for a classic backpack with a leather base. After one day of use, the synthetic leather on the handle started cracking and peeling apart. A few days later, the material on the base of the backpack also started disintegrating. The rest of the backpack seems to be well constructed, but the poor quality of the fake leather is unacceptable. I currently have a warranty claim with Herschel and am expecting delays as I'm sure countless customers are trying to get replacements for this defective product.
