I have used this for over 10 yrs. I put a thick layer on my face at night. You dont need to but I like it that way. My dark spots have lightened over time.

It's work a try for the price.
I've only used this for a week, so I can't give a definitive answer. I've always used the "daytime" version, which does work. So far, this "nighttime" version has my skin breaking out, but I'll keep using it a little longer and see what happens.
