Bought this Anemometer for camping. It's very light and with comparing it with my home weather station it's right on with both temperature and wind speed. I purchased a small tripod to mount it on so that there's no need to hand hold. To sum it up! I would say it's a neat little weather station.

I live near Lake Erie and use the anemometer the measure wind speeds.I like it because it is handheld is gives me accurate readings at ground level and gives me a heads up when damaging winds threaten.

I live on a farm and find this a real help to determine conditions when out in the fields . For example trying to find the best time to harvest crops. This combined with the portable lightning detector gives us a heads up on severe weather approaching to give our family time to get off the fields. I also drive charter bus and recently used both to get a group of young people off a golf course before a severe Thunder storm arrived,

I bought this as a gift for my husband and he loves it. I admit at first I was put off by the size, didn't realize it was handheld, but it's accurate . I was looking for a "weather station" that could be put on a table but this works out find for my hubby.

While the features for temp and related measurements are good along with the altimeter, the principal purpose as a portable anemometer is rather hokey. If you try to measure the wind speed it does not have a directional vane as most anemometers. You have to be the vane and try to aim it to catch the wind. You have to be pretty much dead on. If the wind shifts slightly, as it will, the reading stops. Sorry that I convinced a couple of friends to buy this unit before I got mine. Oh well.
