Right out of the box, the battery only took 2 hours to fully charge. Drill comes with two lightweight, low profile lithium ion batteries, so you can charge one while using the other. The chuck is easy to use, so changing bits is super easy. The drill has a clip to hold a bit built right in, so changing bits is quick and convenient. The drill is light weight and well balanced. There are rubberized guards on either side of the drill to protect it from impacts. It has a lot of power. It also has an automatic work light that comes on when you pull the trigger. We are very pleased with this drill so far.
I've always been a fan of Porter Cable products, and this driver continues that trend. The past few years, drills and drivers have gotten so much smaller and more powerful with long battery life. This 20V lithium ion driver is just great. Its very small, which makes it easily maneuverable into smaller areas. I prefer using a driver over a drill, just because it is much more convenient and easier to switch out bits when needed. This driver is very simple and straightforward to use, as most drivers are. A toggle switch for drilling left or right, and a variable speed trigger button. A handy feature this driver has, is a charging notification built into the charging plug to illustrate how much charge the battery has on it. This is very handy when you want to see how much juice you have left in a battery. 2 batteries are included with this driver, so you should have plenty of power to get through any large project. This driver is built solid, and seems to be a product that will last for years to come. The lithium ion batteries typically last quite a bit longer that NICad batteries, so their shouldn't be any issue there either. I would recommend this driver for sure. Great product. Love the small size!
My husband and I have been in the market for a new drill for a couple months now, just not wanting to pull the trigger until we found a really great deal. In the past we have only ever had regular power drills but when my husband saw this impact power drill he knew this was the one we needed. We loved that it comes with two batteries - keep one with the drill and one charged and you'll never run into those unfortunate moments when you're starting a project and realize the drill is dead and then have to wait for it to charge! The impact driver part of the power drill is so powerful and makes the hard jobs so easy. We mainly use this for projects around the house and simple DIY projects. A huge upgrade from our previous drill is that when you are changing bits you only have to pull a small lever and remove and replace the bit. It locks right into place and that's that! Our old drill had to be tightened into place and we ran into it falling out way too many times! It makes the ease of use so much better! This is a great value for the price and I wouldn't hesitate to try it out for yourself.
My husband absolutely loved the product; It works just as described and love the battery life on it. It is a great product that I would recommend to anyone. Great tool to have
My husband loves it. It's small. Easy to use. Works great. Easy to change out bits. Even one handed. Not overly heavy. Very lightweight. Good battery.
I bought the 8 tool multi kit and have added three more impacts, drills and larger bartteries to my tools chest. I am a contractor of 35 years building additions, decks, kitchen remodels, metal roofing, windows, doors and even use them for automotive repairs. I still use the very first impact I bought five years ago on a daily basis running in 3 inch deck screw and drywall screws. The first generation had magnets on the drill and impact housing for holding extra bits or screws, they no longer have those. I do not like not having the magnets. I also do notlike the brushles due to power loss, they are weaker than the first generation of five years ago. I have only replaced the reciprocating saw due to extreme use...twice. Even though I rated this at 5 star I am considering a brand change since the new products have moved into the brushless builds and not having the magnets. Your first generation of lithium products we're your best by far, as good or better than the other popular brands. But the new generation falls below that level of dependability and power. I do not believe I can recommend this product anymore in good faith. Bring back your previous model and I will be one of your majors advocates but until then I will be looking at othe brands. Thank for 5 great years.
Got my first one about 4 years ago, used for anything and everything then 2 years ago began renovating a 1920 home. It did finally give up the ghost this weekend after driving no less than 20000 screws 2.5 - 4" in length, most into old very hard wood and several trips to the floor from the top of 6 & 8ft ladders. I'm hoping the new brushless model holds up the same. So far it's been excellent.
I have had this for about 6 weeks. It has way more torque than my other two previous ones. Well worth the upgrade. Even drives large lag screws with ease. Battery endurance so far is wonderful. I think I have only charged it once. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great tool with exceptional value!.
Pic showed black battery which is more ah than red misleading
I brought it almost a year ago and it stop working. when I squeeze the trigger the light comes on but the drill itself won't work. It worked great when it was working, I don't recommend buying this impact drill if your looking for one that will last awhile.
