The charger comes with the set and there is an indicator on the drill which shows the progress of charge. The drill has a mode collar which is nice because it lets you switch from drill to screwdriver easily. My husband was so excited to get this product. He loves the fact that it has 20v Lithium batteries that give him longer work time than his current drill. So far the product works as expected. We look forward to trying it out over time since my husband plans to use it at work on a regular basis. The drill is a little heavy for me, but I think it has to be for the work load it is used for. Overall this seems to be a good product.

Wow! I am absolutely blown away by this PORTER CABLE 20-Volt Max 2-Tool Brushless Combo Kit! I have been using a big clunky old corded drill for years solely because I don't have a lot of projects that require drilling. This is a really advanced set of tools; the batteries are lighter than other models I have seen on the market and they are interchangeable so if you're only using one drill you can just switch out the battery and charge the other one up in about a half an hour. The bit removal is fantastic, it takes seconds to change them out! Both drills are much more lightweight and compact and fit the hand better. Also there is a handy LED light at the base of the drill that lights the area you're drilling with no obstruction or shadow. I had some light repairs to do around the house this weekend and the jobs were all completed much more quickly thanks to this PC drill kit. These would make a great gift for the handy person in your family too!

This drill and driver set have brushless motors that operate off of 20 volt, 1.5Ah batteries. The set comes with both tools, two batteries, a charger, a couple of bits, and metal belt hangers that can be attached or left off. The set does not come with a carrying case, but as another reviewer noted, it is probably better to keep them in a generic plain bag to discourage theft. Once the 1.5Ah batteries are close to fully discharged, they take about 50 minutes to fully charge. However this is with the basic, but compact charger. There is a rapid charger available from Porter Cable that claims to charge in about 30 minutes. There are also larger capacity batteries available for the tools. The downside to this is that they take longer to charge - but this seems to be worth it. The brushless motors allow the tools to run longer than standard motors on each charge. The drills are relatively light even with the battery in and are very well balanced. They have plenty of power for any non-commercial tasks. However research shows that they should not be used for professional use. The features that I like: 1)each tool has a LED light built in that shines at an upward angle and does a great job lighting up the work area and stays on for a few seconds after you release the trigger. 2)the drill has a two position switch that allows you to set full power for drilling without having to turn the selector ring to full position. 3)the low/high speed switch is located conveniently on the top off the tool. 4)the key less chuck seems to be well made and secures whatever you put in the chuck. 4)there is a bit holder built into the side of the tool that actually holds the bit unlike some other brands. 5)there is a battery strength tester built into the bottom of each tool. The only negative I have is that the belt hangers protrude down beside the battery and the tool will not stand up on its own when the battery is removed. Overall this is a great tool set and I am sure it will give me years of good service.

The porter cable drill/driver and impact driver kit are very well made. These are both very good quality drill/drivers. This set comes with one battery charger. There are two batteries included. It took a little over an hour to completely charge each battery. The batteries have a long run time. After several uses I have not yet needed to recharge the batteries. The batteries are 20V max lithium. A led lights flashes during charging and stays lit to indicate that charging is complete. The impact driver has a trigger switch and forward and reverse button on the side near the trigger switch. There is a hex quick release chuck that works great. There is a battery release button on the bottom for quick release of the battery. It also has a gauge to let you know the battery fuel level. This also has a LED work light which definitely comes in handy. This driver worked great for all of my needs. The drill has similar features as the driver. The drill has a torque adjust collar, mode control collar, dual range gear selector and keyless chuck. Both of these tools performed very well and are of superior quality. This is a great set and works excellent. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

They are by far the best for the price. I've used a set of Dewalt drills that I still have today that perform excellent and they have, but they are stating to show their wear and tear as I use them quite a bit. In my opinion the Porter Cable drills are excellent drills especially for the price. They have performed exceptionally well. In a blind-fold test there is no way you could tell the difference in power, smoothness, or functionality. They are definitely not just for a man who needs a set of drills for simple home projects, in my opinion they are contractor grade and will continue to be this way. I don't know much about the company Porter Cable, except that they have been around quite a long time but they have been bought out since and have always had exceptionally good products. If I were to go out today and buy a brand new impact drill and a brand new drill/driver, I would definitely choose porter cable and save possibly hundreds of dollars. For the price of Dewalt, you can buy 2 sets of these drills. Plus, they perform the exact same as Dewalt. In my opinion, when it comes down to it you are paying for the name when you buy the more expensive brand name product. Why do that when you can buy 2 sets of these for the price or one set of Dewalt? They perform basically the exact same with basically the exact same specifications. One feature I like is that they have a great battery charger. It's not big and bulky, small (almost like a usb outlet), just enough to pop your battery in. When it is charging it shows the charge capacity and then when fully charged it shows that as well on the battery compartment. Another cool feature is when you pop the battery out it feels spring loaded and it pops out instead of having to yank it out of the battery pack. All in all, of all the tools that I have rated, I would rate this among the best side by side performer in comparison and functionality to Dewalt. It is really hard to believe it's priced at the price it's priced at because it's simply an amazing value that you won't regret. Now with all this being said, I've only had the opportunity of using these for about a week, but I do use them quite a bit. These drills side by side to other drills will perform just as well, if not better. On a funny side note, If you're used to having Dewalt drills and you go looking for these drills they are a little hard to find because they aren't yellow (which I'm used to looking for). I highly doubt an amateur or professional worker who uses drills on a regular basis would be disatisfied. If they were dissatisfied I would assume it would be from something I have yet to experience. I have had Porter Cable tools in the past that have out performed brand name tools, so I'm not hesitant to say they are an outstanding buy.

This absolutely blows my dewalt power drill away. Compared to my old drill, the power and battery are just so much better. The 20v pro battery charges quite quickly. You can get a full charge in about 60-90 minutes, plus the battery doesn't drain like crazy at idle (unlike some batteries I know…). The charger that it comes with is small and compact, but it isn't a dock. It's more like a utility charger where you slide the charger into the battery. The charger has indicators to tell you whether it's charging, at full charge, or some error occurred (red light). The drill has all the features a normal drill should have: one bit holder, trigger switch, torque adjuster, variable speed trigger, a dual range gear selector (low speed, high speed), and keyless chuck. The extra features this has are the onboard battery gauge (so awesomely useful, every tool or battery should have this built-in!), and a very handy mode control (for screw driving vs drilling mode, which was useful for me). The brushless motors are also a no brainer. If you're going to get a cordless drill, you should definitely get brushless – but that's just my opinion. It's compact body size, versatile, and powerful drill that packs a punch, but of course, for those harder surfaces for drilling, an impact driver is best. This impact driver does the job alright! A really good combo set that's great for the money. Highly recommended! Yes, 2 drill bits are included.

Great battery thats interchangeable with both the drill and driver. The batteries have excellent power and durability. The only downside to the batteries are the lack of rubber which makes it slide easily. One charger takes care of both batteries, is compact and easy to read. Drill- 1/2 inch drill bit shank, variable speeds, adjustable torque. Well balanced with battery, excellent grip. Outstanding placement of light and brightness! Driver- Quick connect bits makes life very easy. Well balanced with battery and great grip. Great power with a compact size.

To get an idea how good any tool is, I generally compare it to a proven tool that is known to be good quality. I received the Porter-Cable 20 volt combo and decided to compare it to my 20 volt Dewalt combo as both sets are very similar. Without allowing the official stats for each drill to bias my judgment, I put them head-to-head on the job. In the hand the Porter Cable feels just slightly less powerful than the DeWalt but absolutely more than capable. I was surprised to find that the rubber armor was actually quite substantial and thicker than my DeWalt products. The Porter-Cable impact gun has a battery gauge, work light, and a brushless motor, putting it in a similar class to top of the line products such as Milwaukee and DeWalt. I am honestly quite impressed with the quality of these tools, the casing is glass reinforced unlike most cheaper brands of battery operated tools. The impact gun feels good in the hand and has a very positive texture on the rubber overmold. Power was excellent, maybe just a pinch less torque than DeWalt. The controls, trigger, quick chuck, all felt Positive and solid. tThe quality is there for sure! A brush less motor keeps your batteries going longer before having to swap and should ensure a long lasting tool. All in all, I am very impressed and would not hesitate to use this combo for commercial construction if I was on a budget. For residential contractors and homeowners, it would be a fantastic step up from the economy brands.

Nice, useful, and complete little set. Two tools, two batteries, and a charger, what more do you need? This is 99% identical to the Black and Decker 20V MAX set because Porter Cable is owned and manufactured by Black and Decker; but because this is the "premium" brand, the batteries will not interchange. The tools themselves are good, powerful, and last a decent while. I was able to to do some small jobs so far such as tighten loose hinges. I would think and hope there is a better and faster charger for these, but for now this one works, just takes a while. The tools have a nice feel as far as the grip while being a good and compact size. The price is very fair and comparable to the more expensive brands I would say. Give these a try before you spend $300 somewhere else...
