RESELL [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I worked with several of these sanders on a job site this past year, we put these sanders through some pretty serious abuse and definitely got our money's worth. We sanded rough-sawn lumber directly before applying finish for a rustic look, as well as rock-hard reclaimed oak. We even took them to the hardwoods in an emergency when we couldn't rent a floor sander last minute. When we finished up, the surviving sanders definitely needed their pads replaced, but that was over 1 year of heavy non-recommended usage. I'm pretty impressed with how long they lasted on that job site. I imagine with less frequent use or home use this would last a good long time.
Great Little Sander easy to hook up to small Vacuum
I've had the sander for 10 years, been fine everytime I used it, until today. The pad came apart into a thousand little pieces. Will fix,or buy again
purchased 10+ years ago Not sure whats up with these reviews being so poor for this product. I have this exact model number from 10 years ago. Therefore it is an older design and you really shouldn't purchase at full price, but that's the only reason, as it's a very competent well built tool. I have abused it profusely over the past decade and I'm only on my 3rd pad for it. This tool will last many many years and its a simple random orbital sander. Do some research and purchase the correct sander you need. Random orbital sanders are supposed to remove lots of material. They mostly suited for finishing and for that task, this sander has ample power. I've only wanted for more power when I couldn't fit a larger sander into a tight spot but, thats not a negative for this sander. My 4 out of 5 are for these reasons, which are areas it could be better: Vacuum/dust port and bag. I ditched the small useless bag it came with in about the 3rd year. Unfortunately the port is a weird size and the adapter it came with to fit round Vacuum fittings was also an oddball size. Also, even with the bag, it still builds up dust on the fan blades and then randomly blasts them out all over the place. Pad interchangeability, would be nice if you could alsp swap pad sizes.
I have used a PC 332 for over 25 years. I though they would have taken what they learned and applied it to new products. But I find this new model awkward and unbalanced. The dust "collection" bag is almost useless and always in the way. It is noisier too. This updated model is cheaper than the old one but you get what you pay for! Porter Cable should bring back a simple, compact, well-balanced model similar to the old 332.
I've been using this sander for a couple years. It works but the dust collection bag sucks I'd look for something else
This sander lasted 19 months for me. I used it for several home improvement projects. Not worthy of the name Porter Cable.
Hobbyist occasional use only. Poor rating due to totally deteriorated foam pad. Purchased 20 years ago (have receipt). Worked very well on an array of small household projects. Always stored in conditioned space. Took a traveling job 10 years ago and not used since. Retired recently, took it out of the tool cabinet and the hook and loop foam pad crumbled in a sticky mess in my hands. Your current model looks different...but maybe better quality rubber pad with same 3-hole pad attachment pattern? Please send me a new pad with the same hole pattern. The machine itself is great... quiet, good power, adequate dust collection, excellent rubber cord (not plastic!). My rectangular pad sander, of a different manufacture..even older...is worn...but not sticky/crumbly. Thanks, P
Bought this about a month ago and I totally regret this purchase. You cannot put any pressure on the tool while sanding. It slows way down. The palm handle get hot to the touch after a few minutes of use. The filter does not work at all. It does not capture any dust. I removed the filter and attached my shop vac hose and still it pulls very little from this unit. I will be going back to my skil or dynabrade brand
