Powell Twin Over Twin Heavy Duty Metal Bunk Bed, Multiple Sizes and Colors

After having the Dorel Junior loft bed (which I purchased from Walmart.com) for the last three years for our oldest son we knew we wanted to stick with a metal bunk bed for our boys. We thought we were going to have to get one from our local furniture store for a better quality. After seeing that our bed options were the same as what we could get from Walmart.com we went with the Powell HD metal bunk bed. Our furniture store wanted $500+ and online from Walmart it was just under $400. For us that was a great savings. The bed arrived in a timely manner for store pick up, the box had seen some wear and tear but the product inside was in great condition. We got the pewter color one and was pleased to see there were no scratch marks. I myself was able to put the bed together without the help from my husband in less than an hour. Assembly was easy because there aren't many parts. We chose not to bolt on the ladder so we can put it up during the day to keep our 2 year old from climbing up, even without bolting it the ladder stays put and is very safe for our almost 6 year old. Our boys (2 & 5) love their new bed and mom and dad love the fact that the bed doesn't wiggle at all not even when the boys are being rowdy. The wood frame bunk beds just don't hold up as well constructively like the metal ones. We couldn't be happier with our purchase. Our boys are sure to get great use out of them now and in the future when we break it down for two individual beds. If you are looking for a bed that is on the lower end of bunk bed prices but it sturdy for kids this is the bed you want.

Overall purchase and delivery very good. The beds are very nice looking and very sturdy. It did take two people to do the set up.

We had little trouble putting these beds together. The instructions were clear. Although no one has slept on them yet I did lie on one and it seems very comfortable. The beds look strong and durable.

We have a residential Home for Ladies. This item was the perfect fit for our home.

Took hardly any time to assemble. I have two boys ages 8 and 9 and they have demolished their last 2 beds but this one is almost indestructible.

There is not a ton of space in between the top and bottom bunk. The ladder steps are a little hard on the feet, and the bed is hard to climb out of since it's like a cage. But my 7 year old has figured out how to get onto and climb up and down the ladder without it hurting her feet. Other than that, it's a good bed for the price and it's easy to assemble. Easy to change sheets too.

I'll start off by saying this is actually a really good, well-built, solid metal bed and should last a lot longer than many of the cheap wood bunk beds I've seen. It goes togther quickly and easily with the included quality hardware. All bolts come with lock-tight on them and includes all the tools needed to assemble it. The bars under the mattress are solid and close together and provide plenty of mattress support. It also works well as two twin beds which is the main reason we purchased it. However we had a HORRIBLE time getting this site-to-store order shipped to our local Walmart, so minus multiple stars. Our first order was canceled by Walmart 2 days AFTER it was supposed to arrive in the store. Walmart.com support person told us "it didnt process correctly in the system". We then ordered it a second time and had more problems. According to the tracking number, the item arrived at the store on Thursday but on Friday I got an email saying "item is NOT ready for pickup". Had to call the local store 3 times before they could find the item. And when we went to the store to pick it up, the lady at the pickup counter had problems "processing it in the system" and had to have a manager manually release it to us. Then to top it off, when we got home and unboxed it, we found it was DAMAGED with deep gouges and scratches on some of the pieces (see photos). I would recommend the bed itself since it is a really solid bed that will last for a really long time. However I would NOT recommend ordering this from Walmart. It is avaiable from other online merchants at the same price.
