I gotta say I was a little skeptical of this single din touch screen at first, but this thing is great! I installed it in an inherited 96 f150 that I wanted to have android auto and a screen in, but didn't want to cut the dash up or spend stupid money on a fold out screen, and this thing does not disappoint! It connects to android auto immediately, the Bluetooth is clearer than both of my other modern cars that come factory with it. Also being able to just say "OK Google" and give commands without having to push any buttons is so nice! I have no issues seeing the screen in any light and it automatically dims when it knows it's time to so it doesn't blind you at night. I like that it also has front and rear camera inputs, that you can turn on/off from the menu, as well as front rear and sub outputs! For the money, I would say you're not gonna find anything that even comes close to this unit. It's definitely gonna add a modern touch to any older model vehicle!
Radio installed and works great, carplay connects instantly. every now and then there is a skip in the song but it's not enough to notice or be annoyed. the display is very crisp and clear and the glass does hold up very well. great solution for single din cars. i installed this in a 2002 silverado and would recommend
It's an excellent radio for either a single din or a 1.5 din. The sound quality is pretty good and has a good brightness. It's a little slow every now and then and sometimes when using apple CarPlay, it'll go back to the Home Screen by itself for whatever reason.
Screen quality looks fantastic, and the Apple Play interface looks great as well. Audio sounded just as well as my Kenwood that sounded that I replaced it with. The installation was simple and straightforward and came with everything I needed even though I did buy an adapter kit specifically for my vehicle so I didn't have to cut the harness.
I purchased this radio after seeing it on Youtuber SuperfastMatt's off-road Dodge Viper build series. This head unit is a nice out-of-the-way option for those with older cars that want a modern head unit without an obtrusive pop-out screen. I installed this in my 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle using a third-party mounting solution. The included wiring harness was easy to adapt to the aftermarket pigtail wiring adapter. The audio quality is great. My speakers are stock and I have no amplifier, so the bass, mids, and trebles are similar to OEM. Having both wireless Carplay and Android Auto is nice. Some downsides; the built-in microphone is fairly quiet and may present issues for older, noisier cars at highway speeds. Voice quality isn't too bad. A remote mic is advised. The wireless Carplay seems to occasionally cut out on longer drives; this issue is intermittent, and may be a phone issue. Wireless Android Auto does not seem to have any issues. The day/night dimmer circuit has a compatibility issue with the New Beetle's dimmer function. The screen will flicker rapidly between day and night when the dimmer is set in the lower ~60% of the range. You need to turn up the instrument cluster brightness quite a ways before the dimmer function of the head unit stabilizes. This is likely due to the way the voltage is regulated by the car. The firmware update function completely bricked my first head unit; I followed all the manufacturer instructions perfectly, and their solution was either a warranty RMA or return to the store. Thankfully I was able to swap the unit in the store and I didn't even attempt a firmware update afterwards. Despite these downsides, I still do recommend this head unit. Single-din wireless Carplay Android Auto head units are rare, and this one is affordable and does a good job.
Newer version of the popular CP-71WA, this one has a physical volume knob. I was originally going to install a lower price Eonon that was also single DIN touchscreen with a knob, but requested a return refund after the replacement they sent for the original defective unit exhibited the same background clicking noise, frozen menu screen, and reboot issues after a recommended firmware update. . This head unit has more features: - 3 pairs (front/rear/sub) of preamp outputs instead of one - Although amplifier RMS specs are lower, it's louder with the same pair of test speakers - Radio tuner has RDS - Customizable wallpaper instead of just the boot screen - Changeable button LED color (Auto changes the color every few seconds) - And most importantly, no background clicking noise and it's stable! I've connected both wired and wireless CarPlay and no frozen menus or reboots. Only thing that wasn't included was a reverse camera, but I already have one anyway. . My only issues are the lack of mounting screws (newer vehicles do not need the mounting sleeve, it just screws into factory radio brackets) and the lack of a crossover for the front and rear preamp outputs, the subwoofer output does have an adjustable lowpass. Maybe in a future firmware update? , Wiring hints, on the 8 pin harness: - Brown brake detect wire can be wired to the ground wire instead of the parking brake circuit. If you leave the brown wire disconnected you will get a warning message for a few seconds before you actually get video feed from Front Camera input - Pink/black wire can be used to power the front camera, it outputs 12 volts when selecting the front camera input
I recently installed the Power Acoustik Double Din CarPlay unit, and overall it's a decent option for the price, but it definitely has a few drawbacks. On the positive side, the Apple CarPlay feature works as expected once connected. Navigation, music, and calls are all pretty smooth, and the screen size is nice and easy to see while driving. Installation was fairly straightforward if you've done head units before, and the overall look in the dash is clean. That said, the performance can be a little inconsistent. There's some lag when switching between apps, and the touchscreen isn't always as responsive as I'd like. The connection (especially if using wireless CarPlay) can occasionally drop or take a bit longer to reconnect than expected. The sound quality is okay, but not a huge upgrade from a basic factory unit. Overall, it gets the job done and offers good features for the price, but don't expect premium performance. It's a solid mid-tier option if you're on a budget, but there are better units out there if you're willing to spend a bit more
It doesn't sit flush at all—it sticks out of the bezel pretty noticeably. To get it to fit properly, you'll need to trim the inside of the radio bezel (and possibly use a trim ring) so it sits cleaner. As it sits now, it ends up looking a bit sunken in within the bezel. That said, for the money it's a solid option if you want to keep the factory lower tray underneath. If you don't care about keeping that tray and want a cleaner OEM look, a double-DIN screen setup is the better move.
single din android auto is the only feature. this connects on it's own and then you have no control over the sound. like you cannot get to the eq or anything else. it's just android. the sound quality at a flatline is just terrible and enough distortion to blow speakers.
I ordered this unit online, upon delivery the package had already been opened. I opened and inspected the radio to find a previously installed/used radio. I was upset, I went to the customer service counter of my local Walmart and they gave me a hard time returning item treating me like a thief. I've had to reach out to customer support online. I've now shipped the item back waiting for a return. The sad thing is I'd still like a new radio but I'm waiting for the return because now I don't trust Walmarts return policy anymore. Very frustrating experience.
