I live on 5 acres…extension cords are needed at various jobs. These ‘protectors' for joining 2 cords are the ‘bees-knees' for outdoor, prolonged use! Tuck the joined cords inside the tube, %26 snap it shut, %26 they're protected from the weather. Greatly Recommend!
I was upset that the plugs between the power cord and the electric Weed Trimmer kept disconnecting. Tying 2 plugs together in a loop is a common way to prevent accidental disconnection, but it's not the safest long-term solution. This plug cover is better but not perfect. The diameter of the plugs when connected can't be wider than 2.0 inches nor longer than 4.125 inches so that the cover can close. The cover snaps shut and stays shut. It's made of compact and durable plastic. I dragged over the driveway and yard all summer with no show of wear. When the Weed Trimmer pulls the power cord to the maximum, the plugs disconnect inside the cover. However, if there's always enough slack in the power cord, the plugs will never disconnect and you can concentrate on the work at hand. Bottom line is that there may not be a perfect solution to this problem. Tying cable ties around the plugs may work as well, but then you'll be using cable ties constantly. I'm going to use it again this summer and would recommend it but with the limitations previously listed.
Does what it's supposed to do. Covers my electrical plug from water. I use these outdoors for connecting Christmas lights and so far, it's done well in the rain. Very heavy duty product for years of use.
I ordered a couple of outlet multipliers and some flat plug, short extension cords. They were high quality and exactly what I needed. Graet place to shop.
These are keeping the rain out. I had the ones from HD but I could never keep them completely closed b/c the rain would leak in and not drain out. This one is a much better design for my garden.
I had a Christmas decoration what didn't have a long enough cord, the cover was great so that I could connect the cords without worrying about them becoming damp in the wet weather here in Texas.
These are great. Simple, cheap, they are optimal for a set it forget it situation. If you're going to venture pending and closing them a lot, I'd recommend something different
Keeps cords protected where they're connected, easy to use and inexpensive. Doesn't work with the smaller, shorter indoor extension cords that have 2, 2 prong outlets on one side and one on the other.
I bought this to cover a small fan that I use on a balcony. That is sometimes exposed to sudden rain. i feel much better annoying that the outlets are covered securely.
It's a cheaply made but functional product for safety adherence. Expect this housing to crack at seam if using in subfreezing temps. The cord gaskets can also fall out. I haven't been around the cord cover market to know what's out there, but theres room for improvement in durability. It does come with an anchor so you can mount it on a screw in your garage.
