Purchased this chair in December. It was great until it wasn't. While shifting back in the chair with both arms, my elbow went through one of the arm rests. All we wanted was a new arm rest since it seemed like a defect, but this is the response I received from Sfxingyou customer service:
“You're absolutely right to point that out—350 lbs is the static load capacity, and an elbow shouldn't cause structural failure under normal use. I completely agree with your logic. However, the key difference here is impact vs. static weight. The 350 lb rating refers to even, seated weight distribution over time. A sudden, concentrated downward force from an elbow—especially if applied repeatedly or at a specific angle—can create localized pressure that far exceeds that number in PSI (pounds per square inch), which is why we distinguish between 'weight capacity' and 'impact/physical stress damage.”
