I started Delphinium January 21 using jiffy mix. Over a month later I used this pro mix, and I transplanted them yesterday. Oh my goodness what a huge difference it is very much worse the extra cost. The top ones are definitely healthier, using promax and look how pale the ones on the bottom are and they were started a month sooner.
I upgraded to promo mix this year after it being recommended and I'm so happy. The soil quality was fantastic and so far, my pepper and other seedlings are growing exceptionally well.
I've used this for several years now and I find it to be the best starting mix. I've tried many - don't fall for cheap mix. You will see a difference with this.
This soil was highly recommended to use in our new garden tower 2. It feels light and airy even after watering. Look forward to seeing how things grow in it.
Nice quality soil used for my aquarium. Great company no complaints!
This is the best seed starting mix I've found.
Great value and quality for seedling starts
seedlings did very well
- Product is way overpriced for the quantity it contains and its quality. - Product needs a wetting agent or something similar added to it to allow for easier moistening of the dry seed starting mix. It is very difficult initially for the dry medium to absorb water after being placed in pots or trays. - Once the medium is finally watered in, it gets too compacted and there is not enough porosity in the soil structure. Company needs to add more smaller grade perlite and vermiculite to open up the structure of the soil mix so air can get to the roots. - There are too many pieces of twigs and other organic material that get in the way of good root development of very small seedlings. Product needs to be screened better if it is going to be effective for germinating small seed. - Company should eliminate the fertilizer used in the product to reduce the cost of the seed starter mix. Most people have no problem adding their own liquid fertilizer in a reduced strength to their seedlings AFTER the first true leaves form on the plants. - I find that PRO MIX BX is a better product with a better soil structure of the mix. It does not get too compacted after watering it in, which is critical for many plants to thrive well. It is much easier to water it in after the dry mix is placed in pots and trays.
Super hydrophobic and clompy. I had to treat the mix to increase its ability to actually absorb water. Also, for the price there should be more perlite/pumice. There are better way cheaper options out there.
