This chicken sand is a game changer! I replaced dusty play sand with this product on the catch tray under my chicken roosting boards. It is dust free and absorbs well. I use a kitty litter scoop every morning to do a quick clean up ( poop scoop...as I call it) so my 13 hens have a clean odor free coop. So glad I found this terrific product!!
I love this product! It scoops easy, no dust! The only issue i have is, when you are unable to clean your coop every couple days, the product does retain moisture, and you end up removing a lot of this sand. With the weather in Michigan you cant always keep a cleaning schedule, but I will say, I purchased 100%23 in October, we are in the 3rd week of January, and im replacing all the sand I've lost now. I have a 3'x9' poop shelf, and a 3'x4' poop shelf, i have 30 chickens, so thats lots of poop! So, if you factor that in, this is a very reasonable purchase. I have tried 3 other sands, and this is my pick! The other sands were dusty, this product is not, its better for my hens and for me. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This sand has made my chicken coop a lot more cleaner and easier to get chicken droppings out of but don't let them tell you it is dust free. After a few weeks, it was dusty when cleaning, but not AS bad as wood chip dust. it has cut down on the odor in the coop, but the real test will be Summer.
why didn't I know about this product for the last 3 years smh. I have been buying construction Sand from Home Depot and Lowes for my chicken coops. Their product is good and came when I needed it, but it hard and dust is great. This product I purchased from Walmart is fine but not so the chickens will eat it. easy to scoop out , very absorbent and No Dust!! The price is higher then regular construction Sand, maybe can go on rollback lol. Love this product and will continue to buy...
I only recently started using this sand for my quail and I like it. It's not as soft as reptile sand but also not nearly as expensive. I find this sand blend really useful as bedding on its own and for mixing with calcium sand to make a blended dust bath for the hens. The bags are a thick plastic and don't tend to leak sand all over, which is nice.
This has been the best material in our chicken coop. Easy to clean and lasts forever if you are able to hose it down twice a year. I used to use hemp for the coop floor but this is so much easier to keep clean and no changing it out all the time. Just use a poop scoop on a long handle and you are in business. 10/10 recommend. Just wish it didn't have to be shipped. My UPS guy hates it! Heavy bags!
We have a chicken coop - have tried shavings, pellets, regular sand and ALL were very dusty . This chicken sand by far is easy care, no odor and no dust and because the fine uniform size of the gravel like sand makes is an clean up - highly recommend 🙌 Chicken Sand is our choice here on out !!
I have a linoleum flooring in my chicken coop and this is perfect for easy cleanup and maintenance. Chickens like it because it makes the floor less slippery absorbs moisture from their droppings and reduces oder. cleanup is a snap, and it provides them with grit.
Initially, it sounded like a good idea, but when it comes time for clean up, it takes 3 times longer than what I've usually done. Not terribly impressed. Used 3 out of 4 bags, inquired about returning the 1 remainder, but was informed I would have to pay for the shipping. Don't think that's feasible, as a 50%23 bag to ship would cost just as much as the product itself, would only be breaking even, if that. Will just keep the 4th bag, and utilize it elsewhere.
Do not buy the bundle of 4 bags of this sand because you'll only get 3 and they say that all 4 were delivered. Our fed ex driver knew it was not here and either he or another driver dropped it elsewhere but marked it as delivered. I DO NOT have the 4th bag so not worth the money. I didn't even move the bags, which come in a box, individually, from my garage so i don't know how the sand it to use. Not expecting much.
