Dyson Trial Participant Having previously owned a Dyson V6 and V7, the new V15 Detect Total Clean has proven itself to be an exceptional upgrade. It is quieter, has more suction power, better balance and has an altogether more premium feel to it. We have 3 children, a Quaker Parrot, a Cocker Spaniel and a 5 bedroom, 3 reception home, a challenge for any cordless vacuum cleaner. The V7 would only clean half the house at a time and was prone to flicking bird seed, rather than picking it up. No such problems for the V15, the whole house can now be cleaned on one 5 hour charge (although you can now easily change the battery, if you have a bigger home and a second battery) and both the Laser Slim Fluffy and High Torque Tangle Free cleaning heads proved to be more than a match for the seed and dog hair. We found the digital display of the battery life remaining to be really useful, the particulate counter less so, but reassuring nonetheless. The star of the show though is the laser on the Fluffy Head, a real game changer, which, not only show you where you’ve missed, it demonstrates just how effective the new cleaning heads are. I would have liked a laser on the High Torque Head as well, as it is extremely effective on hard floors as well as the rugs and carpets that it was designed for. Overall I would state that, if you are only going to own one vacuum cleaner, this is the one to get. Superb.
I've never had a cordless vacuum cleaner before and I'm impressed with how powerful the suction is on the Dyson V15. It is excellent for pet hair ( I have 3 cats) and always leave fur about. The detangling brushes actually work as my daughters have long hair. I love the portability of the V15 as it's great for doing the stairs with the smaller attachments. I find it a tad heavy when doing the upholstery and curtains and the cylinder requires frequent emptying therefore not best suited for heavy traffic areas. The lint roller with the laser is fantastic on hardwood flooring as it shows where you have missed.
Dyson Trial Participant I have timber parquetry flooring which can embarrassingly hide a whole fish finger due to the pattern (ask me how I know this). It's quite difficult to know where I've vacuumed and where I haven't, so when I switched on the 'friggin laser beams' for my new vacuum, I was floored. Pun intended. That green laser showed up every spec of dust, every crumb, pet hair and fish finger I had on my floor (I have kids, no judgement please). It even lit up clear sticky tape. It was both horrifying and satisfying to then methodically vacuum the floor and know that I had (for possibly the first time ever) actually cleaned my floors. If you are used to vacuuming with the spinning brush head on hard floors and experience crumbs and bits and pieces flying off, then you need to get your hands on one of the fluffy cleaner heads as this picks up all those crumbs and is perfect for hard floors. I am used to using the V8 Dyson which I thought was pretty great. However, when I ran the V15 with the high torque cleaner head over our rugs, it was like I was vacuuming it for the first time. The amount of dust and dirt it picked up from the depths of our rugs, showed me that this Dyson is way more powerful than my previous Dyson. I also found the cleaning heads less bulky so I can now vacuum in the gaps on either side of my fridge to suck up long lost lego pieces and tumbleweeds of pet hair that always get stuck there without switching to the crevice tool. The bin seems to take up more of the length of the stick, but is still light and was super easy to empty. The auto cleaning mode is like cruise control on the car. It will detect if you are vacuuming up some bigger particles and give you a boost of power and suction. No more switching manually between the modes. Lastly, the digital display is awesome. In particular, I loved knowing exactly how long I had left in the battery for vacuuming and it even gave me a 5-minute warning before the battery was going to die on me. On that note, it also had enough battery life to vacuum the entire house (6 bedrooms) and rugs. Normally, I have to charge the battery in between doing the hard floors and rugs. Overall, the laser was a simple but genius addition. The novelty of it meant I was fighting with my kids over who gets to vacuum (seriously!). The suction and power from the Dyson stick vacuums just keep getting better and better. Love this machine. What a beast.
Dyson Trial Participant. I was using the Dyson V10 animal and thought that it was good, the V15 Detect Total Clean is so much better. On auto mode the Dyson changes power to the level of dust it needs to pick up and power it certainly has, so much more than the V10. I thought the laser was just going to be a gimmick but wow, I didn't know how much dust was on the floor until I saw it with the laser and now I know that the floor is clean. The V10 head used to get clogged with hair, but the V15 comes with an anti tangle comb which so far has lived up to its name. There's also a motorised hair screw which is cool as well. The best feature by far though is the led screen at the back which tells me how much battery life is left. The only negative is the size of the bin could be bigger, but I probably won't have to vacuum as much now because it picks up dust so much better.
First impression is IMPRESSED. Having upgraded from my v8 animal the v15 is honestly a game changer. As my children suffer asthma I regularly vacuum their beds and I was honestly shocked with how much dust the v15 pulled out from the mattresses. The dust counter was a massive seller for me knowing my house is getting a deep clean removing dust and allergens and also giving me insight at to what is getting picked up The battery was great, lasted my whole house carpet and tiles and loved the feature of the countdown always knowing how much time I had left. Bin size was huge accomodation for a family of 5 and suction never skipped a beat. Overall I would highly recommend this vacuum, I have been nothing short of impressed
My partner was stuck in her ways, “the Henry is the best hoover”, “I don’t want another hoover I’ve already got a Henry”. Even when she opened it on Christmas Day she hated the Dyson. Only because it wasn’t a Henry. After cleaning all the wrapping paper up I set her a challenge. To vacuum the living room with the Henry until she thinks it’s spotless. So with a smug look on her face she drags this heavy old Henry from the Cupboard, unwinds the cord moves the TV stand to get a socket, the lights dim as the Henry spins up and she starts cleaning. Sure enough the room fills up with this musty smell coming from the Henry, through the light coming through the crack of the curtain you can see all the dust it’s blowing out. After a while she calls me back to admit how clean the carpet is. “Let’s see that stupid Dyson beat that!”. I walk over to the Dyson that I mounted on the wall earlier that day and left to charge, Lift it off, placed it on the carpet and pulled the trigger. Immediately the Dyson came to life. I did two passes on a main section of carpet and stopped. The carpet the Dyson went over looked clean! And the dust bin had all the crap in it to prove it! My partner stood in disbelief at what the Henry had left. I’ll never forget the words she spoke to me then. “All this time we have been living in filth!” I grabbed a bag that was filled with wrapping paper, took the stem off the hover and proceeded to empty the Dyson. Just like that, empty! I handed it to her and she, like a kid on Christmas, started vacuuming everywhere. About ten minutes later she tells me that the Dyson is faulty and we need to send it back. I asked her why and she said “it’s not sucking like it did when I first vacuumed this room” I showed her the screen and told her how it automatically ramps up its power when it sees there is more dirt. “So it knows we were living like pigs?!” She exclaimed. The difference the Dyson made to our quality of life was made clear on boxing after my partner vacuumed every room in the house. Our 8 year old son comes down the stairs and doesn’t sneeze once! Turns out the Dyson has been cleaning the Air too. I have not regretted this purchase at all. I have now converted my partner to Dyson and have plans to purchase their air purifiers soon.
I have used the Dyson V8 for 4 years and have loved it so I was excited to participate in this trail. I thought the V15 would be a great machine but my expectation were far exceeded. I have been using The V15 for almost 2 weeks and all I can say is WOW! I have 4 young children in my care everyday and my house gets filthy. The amount the V15 picks up is amazing! We have a sandpit that hasn't been used in about a month and I vacuum my carpets everyday, so i was really surprised when I used the V15 for the first time and it collected a substantial amount of sand! We have a large house with both carpet and tiles, 2 long haired pets and 2 household members with long hair so you can imagine the amount of hair we pick up every time we vacuum. After seeing the amount of sand the V15 collected, we vacuumed the carpets in the bedrooms and lounge with the V8 on high, and then went over the same areas with the V15 on max boost. I was shocked at what we picked up with the V15! Check out the picture below. I've tried most of the attachments and I am really impressed with this machine. I think the digital readings on the handset are good and the battery life is great, even on boost. If I have one criticism I'd have to say I find it a little heavy, but then with all that extra power you'd expect it to be heavier so I can live with that. Overall, I think Dyson has done a fantastic job with this vacuum and I highly recommend it!
This is a excellent machine but be wary of the ‘Filter is dirty’ message which appeared after 5 mins use. This is a fault & the filter is not dirty after such a short time. Placing on charge for a moment resets this but it returns after 5 mins. I contacted support who sent a new body & this is fine. Customer Service 5*. Machine after the new body 5* Before I would have rated the machine 3*. I can use many of the tools from the old V6 by using an adapter.
I was sent this machine and tools for an unbiased review so here goes. I already have a V8 machine that I recently purchased after much research into various makes and models and I was totally satisfied with it until I used the V15. The V15’s ability to adjust it’s power to suit what it detects is a very good feature indeed and I am impressed with the way it works on both the High Torque cleaning head and the Laser Slim Fluffy heads. All the other tools have their place and work very well apart from the Hair screw tool as I found the equivalent tool(photo attached) that came with my V8 machine works better on dog hair etc that my animals produce. Another good idea and useful addition is the clip to hold two additional tools whilst your moving about the house cleaning. I personally don’t see the need for a detailed description of the dust sizes it’s detecting on a cleaner but on an air purifier it would be superb. Using the V15 machine for cleaning the car interior was very good but my V8 is lighter and more manoeuvrable but the V15 has more power so it’s swings and roundabouts here. Would I recommend the V15, yes I certainly would and I after showing the machine to family and friends they are just as impressed as I am.
I bought this Dyson v15 detect to replace my Dyson V8. I was very excited until I started to use it, withing the first 5 minutes of use it showed the filter needs cleaning warning. I returned that for a replacement, thinking only the first one had faulty. Now the second one is doing the same. I will have to return the second one too. I'm now out of pocket as bought a charging stand doc along with it, which I can't return. And trip to the percel drop shop as you know petrol is expensive now
