I absolutely love this!!!! I have an old injury to my fingers and found it difficult and painful to use a knife and I don't like food processors with the noise and having to drag them out for a small chop or mince job. This works perfectly! I can rough chop, dice, mince or finely mince my veg and seasonings, but I also tried it to tenderize a round steak. It worked great!! It reminds me of my childhood too.
I love this chopper! It works wonderfully and it is so easy to use and it comes apart so it can be cleaned properly and it goes back together easily. I love this chopper!
my mom loves to shop onions and celery lots of different things but she was needing a new one to make the stuff for chicken salad sandwiches and she had had her old one for at least 10 years
When chopping a large quantity, this comes in handy. The vegetables do not come out uniformly chopped. But they are fine for sautéing. The only issue I have had is the vegetables getting stuck above the blades in the plunger mechanism. You have to manually clean them out before washing.
It's pretty small in size. It's gonna fit only half of an onion. A little more space would be very good so you have to keep just cutting the onion in half put it inside chop it then take everything out so it's like too much work.
I really wanted to love this because I really dislike cutting with a knife. The fact is, you have to cut your produce into manageable chunks anyway to place in the small chopper area after which you need to use the chopper until you reach your desired food size...sort of. Some pieces are chunkier than others (personally I don't mind that), and some are virtually liquified. Then you have to rinse the chopper but it's dishwasher safe and that's good. In my humble opinion, it's just as easy to use a food processor, and those with very basic knife skills will find this a complete waste of time. I have very bad knife skills and I still find it pretty blah.
I purchased this to quickly chop foods for my husbands soft diet. It worked but food splattered up into the top and it doesn't come apart to clean it. It can be rinsed and left to soak but I don't feel it's really clean . First time I used it I realized it had this issue and didn't feel it could be returned. Chopping nuts or other foods that don't splatter I think would be fine.
This just squished tomatoes, which is probably to be expected. When I tried carrots, it didn't do much either and felt like it was going to fall apart. I returned it.
No good for chopping fruit or cheese. You have to cut items up anyway to fit in the thing, so you'd might as well do it with a knife. Food sticks to the blades, and it's hard to clean. Cuts are also largely uneven.
It works best on food that has already been cut small. The blades smash bell peppers and don't cut completely through other vegetables I have tried. Not easy to clean at all!
