I previously had one of these cheese graters, heavy duty, that I got rid of because I didn't use it much, so I gave it away. I saw one of these several times being used. I finally purchased one and I love it. It is light, it does a great job shredding the cheese. I haven't used it on anything else at this time. But I am pleased with the purchase.. Sharon Thomas
I read that buying shredded cheese has anticaking agent sprinkled on them so I opted to buy a block for the same price and grate my own. This little baby saves my knuckles every time and I only make what I need. Makes the cheese last longer because it doesn't mold near as easy , so we love it
i heard about this on Facebook while watching a recipe on "Holmescooking" I used this for shredding cheese and also chicken for our Shih-tzu (she thinks she's a princess) it's amazing. Great suction to my counter, super easy to clean. Would recommend this to everyone.
A rotary style grater like this is one of my favorite kitchen gadgets. It makes shredding cheese a FAST and safe process. I purchases this one to replace a different rotary cheese grater. I had my previous one for two years before it broke. This was convenient to add to my grocery order. I think the quality is slightly lower than my previous one. But for the amount of time it saves I love it and will repurchase if it breaks again!
It's only good for shredding a brick of cheese - after you cut it down by hand so the piece of cheese is small enough to fit in the chamber. The one feature of this product that I do like is that it has a suction cup that secures the device to your countertop. Tried making cabbage coleslaw- that was a disaster. Tried shredding a carrot- that didn't work either. A manual colander works best but can be grueling. Maybe one would benefit from investing in a food processor vs purchasing this item.
The grater looks wonderful. Problem is, there were supposed to be 3 different blades. I got 3 blades but 2 of them were identical. I did NOT get the slicing blade. If Walmart wants to send me a slicing blade then I can try the grater out. As of now I haven't used it!
Got this delivered yesterday. Was excited to use it for cheese and potatoes. Washed it up, put it together and used it to slice 6 potatoes; it completely shredded the edges. No clean slices. And yes, I was turning the handle the right direction. Then I switched to the large shredder to do cheese. After four or five turns, the handle BROKE OFF. It would not clip back in to reattach. Complete waste of money. Couldn't even get one complete use out of it to fix dinner. DO NOT BUY THIS.
The suction did not remain adhered to the counter when in use. Also the handle would not attach to the grater piece. One and a half turns, the handle came loose and the suction released. This is not the first grater I have had, so I know how to use this type. Sadly, I had thrown the box away or it would have been returned. Instead… in the trash it went. There are good ones like this out there… but this particular one was a waste of money.
The blades seem sharp enough to do the job, but the blades constantly hit a piece of the plastic on the inside housing when you're turning the handle. Each time the blade hit the plastic, it scrapes off a lil bit of the plastic, which then goes into the food you're preparing.
I opened up my rotary grate and slice, and there's no arm to crank it. It's literally missing. You can tell this product was opened before they delivered it as well. I am beyond disappointed, and I was in charge of making the baked mac and cheese for the family dinner tonight.
