Was looking for something affordable to make those yummy TikTok cucumber recipes and this did just the trick. I was skeptical at first on the durability, it seemed a little flimsy at first, but I have never used a mandolin before so I’m assuming I was just not used to the flexibility needed to make this product work. Cuts like a charm, really decreases my prep time. I’m a big fan
I recommend this product, and I totally recommend purchasing cutting safety gloves along with it!! These mandolins are fast for slicing and easily cut you when using them. By saying “these mandolins” I do not mean this particular product. I am talking about ANY of these tools. ALL of them are fast cutting. I love this mandolin, but I would not use it without a safety glove.
Sharp blade. easy to use. the hand grip makes it convenient to prevent you from scraping your fingers on the blade. adjust to different sizes. Able to use over a bowl so the slices will not be falling on the counter or table. caution must be used when cleaning to prevent cutting yourself on the blade (make sure blade is in the locked position when cleaning).
After nicking my thumb, rereading the directions, and turning the pusher the right side up, this thing is like sliced bread. I use it tomato slices of thick and medium thicknesses for sandwiches, and the same for onions. The blade is super sharp, nicked thumb proved that. I practiced with slicing an onion first, then tackled the tomatoes. I played with slicing stuffed green olives, with some success.
Blade is super sharp, no "catching" of what you're trying to slice. Simple to use, works great. I bought a different slicer from a competitor (little more $$) and it's terrible compared to this one, I'll be returning. I like the button for width of the slice, they are the perfect sizes for veggies/fruit - I even used it to slice a semi-frozen steak to make fajitas - it worked GREAT. I can definitely recommend.
Freaking love this thing, I eat so many more vegis now because chopping them is so quick. Can’t believe I held out on purchasing one for so long. This will be a kitchen staple for the rest of my life.
Made my most perfect batch of pickled red onions with this love how it slices! I love how you u can change the settings for thickness. I’m so glad I finally got this such a time savor %26 also makes your veggies pretty/
Even though the frame flexes with use, suggesting it might break easily, it breezed through the carrot slicing on both thin and medium thickness setting so it should have no problem with any other vegetable or meat needing slicing. The blade is surgical sharp so please use the included plastic holder and don't try to slice the ends trapped in the holder by hand or you might find out how easily this blade slices fingers (don't ask).
I bought one of these several years ago. It lasted well, but when I moved, I left my mandolin slicer for my daughter to use. I missed it very much. I bought a different mandolin slicer that stands upright which was more expensive and had cross-cut options). This different one only served to remind me how much I missed this particular model for convenient simple slicing. So I have bought a new one again (identical to my original one), and continue to love it. It is easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher, and easy to store in my knife drawer. This is a wonderful tool to keep on hand when preparing meals and snacks, and takes no set up, just a mere slide button to adjust thickness of the cut. <3
The thin slices are about as thin as you could possibly get for any slicer and are see-through, and it goes up from there to somewhere less than a quarter of an inch thick, maybe an eighth. Good design overall since it has a lock function for stuff like cleaning (though you can cut yourself if you try) and very easily adjustable thicknesses. One notable struggle is that you have to figure out the right pressure and timing for certain vegetables such as cucumbers at higher thicknesses. The food gripper or safety thing is terrible, however. The spikes are nowhere near deep enough to actually lock into a normal-sized fruit or vegetable; everything falls out.
