I looked at a bunch of different brands of these apple peelers, and even the different models from this brand. I landed on this one because it gives you the option to just core, just peel or just slice, combinations of any two of those or all 3. I knew this year I wanted to put up a lot of apples in various ways which meant a lot of apples, so I wanted something that could hold up and not be a pain to use. This feels heavy enough right out of the box. it has a clamp for the edge of your countertop and it stayed in place through an entire bushel of apples and never budged. It took me a few times to figure out where I wanted the peeler depth set but after that it was good. A couple of things I didn't love were the slice spiral thickness. It was okay for the apples I was dehydrating but I ended up just using the peel and core function and hand slicing the apples for pie fillings and sweet apples. That could be personal preference though, and even just having the peel and core function was a huge help and time saver. I also tries it with a very large apple variety that had gotten softer and this couldn't do those. When I tried to core those, it just smashed a lot of the apples between the coring and peeling process. Overall I would definitely recommend this. It's classic and simple design and heavy duty parts seem like it will hold up well with minimal maintenance. The many options it gives you is the biggest plus and the price is a great value (no I did not mean for that to be a WM pun lol!)
