It's very good and non smoked is a bonus. Smoked Mozzarella is wonderful, but there are times where it's less desirable or perhaps not really desirable, shocking as that may be. It looks, feels, melts and tastes like very good quality cheese to me and of course is better than the better and best of the sliced and pre-packaged cheese sacrifices moisture (I think). Mozzarella has higher levels of calcium than most other cheeses, along with Provolone. (Hard, aged cheeses are highest if that is an important consideration for you).
I have bought this Provolone Cheese from Walmart a few times and I plan to continue buying it from them! It is the BEST non smoked Provolone I have ever tasted! And the price is just right!! I highly recommend it to those who prefer non smoked Provolone like me!!
Prima Della non-smoked provolone cheese is the perfect cheese for laying across the layers of lasagna with ricotta cheese on top of the provolone. It's also very good to add to the top of a frozen pizza or on the sauce of a homemade pizza and then a thin layer of shredded whole milk mozzarella unless reduced fat mozzarella but not skim milk mozzarella as that never melts well or tastes good. It's like plastic laminate on a pizza and embarrassing.
Provolone cheese is the pizza's best kept secret - mixed with mozzarella, it lends more flavor, stretch and texture - on a sandwich, smoked provolone is the way to go - it lends a not-overly-strong provolone cheese flavor with smoky overtones, fitting just about any kind of sandwich that would normally use White American or other varieties, like Muenster or Colby. If you've ever had REAL Italian provolone - it's a harder cheese, and much stronger in flavor - in-between an Asiago, or a Fortina cheese. The taste in the low-moisture provolone still retains most of the notes from the original, but once you actually try the original - you'll say “..aw, no… just like back in my liquor days - “Give Me The Hard Stuff.” Good, fragrant Provolone with fantastic smoked-Pap… Mmm-hmm!
I purchased this cheese to make some sandwiches along with the salami I had also purchased. As it turned out, I never did get to make any sandwiches. I wound up eating the cheese and the salami right out of the packages. I had to buy more to make the sandwiches I wanted to make. But this time I purchased enough to both make sandwiches and to eat out of the package. It really is that good!
Prima Della Non Smoked Provolone Cheese is great as one of many ingredients, for burritos, Italian subs, on pizza or just by itself. It makes a great addition to so many dishes and has a subtle flavor and aroma that are really yummy.
The texture has changed since I stopped using Animal rennet now they're using this synthetic “vegan” rennet and now it taste kind of like eating rubber. Has about as much flavor as well.
I wouldn't purchase it again. Texture and freshness were good, but didn't have the flavor, seemed bland to me. I prefer the Great Value packaged, thin slice Provolone cheese.
Not edible due to delivery driver ignored the delivery instructions and ILLEGALLY placed into our mailbox! Who does this??? It is a FELONY in the US! Searched all around front door, house, etc. when I received delivery notice. I was at home, did not find until next day when checking our mail!!!
again with I ordered a specific type of cheese and they got me a totally different kind I ordered Swiss and yet they gave me provolone they are not even close to the same if your Shoppers are unable to read directions or what specific items customers order then that is a problem that needs to be addressed
