I purchased two brushes, Princeton Neptune size 4 and 8 round, and they work beautifully. They hold a lot of water and they allow me to make beautiful petals on florals. These were recommended by an artist I follow on UTube, Petals by Pryia. If you paint a lot of florals, I highly recommend the Princeton Neptune series brushes.
Quality watercolor brush, versatile size with good water retention and paint pick-up; smooth execution and flow.
Excellent soft watercolor brush
As near to squirrel as you can get
I love how much paint these brushes hold!
These brushes are indeed, very close to true squirrel hair. They are a wonderful alternative for anyone looking to avoid using animal products!
This is my go to quill brush! I have used it in my studio, plein air and when I am teaching. It holds water and pigment to cover large areas, yet a nice fine tip for details. The only drawback I find is that the wires that hold the plastic ferrule break quite easily. I know that this is because my handle swells, but when I am painting as much as I do each day, there is no time for it to dry out. Especially when I am competing at a plein air event.
The bristles are soft and when wet are soppy. This softness allows the bristles to be splayed for texture strokes. The point is softly rounded. I use this line of brushes with the Princeton Aqua-Elite brushes that hold less water, have stiffer bristles, and a sharp point. These two lines of brushes compliment each other and work together on the same painting.
These Princeton Neptune brushes hold lots of water and slide softly across the paper.
Beautifully made, holds a lot of water for a synthetic, lovely point.
