This mix is a lot easier to work with than a big wet bag of potting mix. Smaller bundle and easier to move around in my older days! The quality of the mix is superb...
I love this particular brand of soil and it does great in raised beds. Walmart previously sold it for as low as $12 but the price keeps going up and soon it won't be worth it.
Pro mix is a beautiful blend of organic material that is light and fluffy that plants love. None of the cheap fillers other brands use like wood chips. This is a quality product that both my seed starts and older plants thrive with both using it for outdoor %26 indoor pots. It’s easy to transport lightweight packed well so vehicles don’t get soiled. There’s a reason why it’s the first to get sold out. I’m happy with this product.
This is by far the best potting mix on the market. No sign of bug larvae when opening the bag. The soil compressed in the bag and the handle makes it easy to transport and store until use. It is great in pots. But I put the mix though a 1/4 inch soil sifter and use it as a seed starting mix. Germination and plant health = excellent!
Compact enough to carry around with ease especially for aging gardener like me . I have been using this product for a long time and my potted plants are healthy .
Best potting soil! I've always mixed my own until I found this. Has just the right tilth and proper ingredients for growing beautiful plants. I use it for all my outdoor potted plants and also all my non-orchid greenhouse plants. Drains properly and holds just the right amount of moisture for good plant health.
Surprisingly, good soil for patio plants. I had 2 large planters and didn't want to spend a fortune on potting soil, so I purchased this instead. It is used in nurseries for all of their plants and cuttings. I had plenty leftover, so I used it on all my plants.
I have used Pro-mix for years. Plants love it , I've never had an issue with it, there's no trash, sticks or weeds in it. It remains fluffy and has great drainage.
buyer beware...this package is deceiving, says compressed and 2 BAGS...so i expected that inside the outer package there would be 2 WRAPPED(SEPERATE) but BAGGED...NOPE! You open it and theres 2 very LARGE compressed blocks of soil and it was messy because I thought it would be also in bags! anyway, it's a large amount of soil...haven't used yet but even though i knew it was 2 cubic feet, just was surprised is all...oh, and it weighs A TON!!
I'm an experienced backyard gardener, mostly vegetables and herbs. This year, I decided to use ProMix, rather than straight peat moss from my trusted brand, as part of my standard, tried-and-true potting soil mix (peat, quality compost, perlite and amendments) for my plants in fabric grow bags, and it has been a costly mistake. I've had to fight uneven moisture in each bag and across bags and, in many large grow bags, excessive moisture that would not be used by the plants or dry out in the sun. Worse, there is a nutrient uptake / root issue with this mix: my plants are stunted, and all plants across plant species are fighting nutrient lock-out, even my herbs, including basil! I've used the same fertilizer products, schedule and method as I've successfully used for years. I've monitored pH. I've used moisture probe and finger method daily, sometimes twice per day, to monitor moisture levels. I've tested the sun factor by placing some plants under shade cloth, some in the sun, some on the back porch. And, all plants, despite micro-enviroment, are challenged with nutrient lock-out. I might end up with a yield of two small paste tomatoes out of 21 plants. All are slowly dying from the bottom up. The young ginger and tumeric plants are showing nutrient deficiency symptoms in the leaves. Pepper plants are showing deficiency and drooping. Even my hostas are slowly dying. I've never seen anything like this in my garden. So, to further test, I transplanted a couple plants into my standard, DIY peat-compost-perlite potting mix (and amendments) without Promix potting soil, and, yes, they are rebounding, The issue is the Promix. I now have about 50 struggling plants I will need to transplant and hope they make it or let all die in this Promix crap. This has been costly. And, I now understand the reason my local farm store does not carry Promix (except one high-end , specialized product in the Promix line). I also now understand the poor reviews and gardener and grower discussions on other sites concerning this product, which I read too late. This product should be removed from the market. Buyer beware.
