Inefficient components and poor quality control!
110 volt welders are notoriously inefficient and need all the help they can get. I didn't buy this welder to stick weld with ( more about that later). To improve efficiency for my use I 1st removed the cover to check it over inside. I found loose wire connections at the switch! Then I replaced the inefficient aluminum welding cables with 100% all copper cables ( throw the worthless groung clamp away or use it for a dog food bag clip and also replace the cheap electrode holder). Now the welder will actually perform what it is rated for and run a 3/32 6013 welding rod fairly well. It wouldn't run a 3/32 rod before the improvements! Better components and quality control would surely give this little welder a better reputation! After improvements I now have a light portable AC 110 volt welder to use with my 100 amp rated carbon arc torch. This was the reason for the purchase.

This was a gift for my 17 year old son on his birthday you wanted to learn how to start welding he fathered extremely easy is enjoying it very much
