I've been using these boots all summer so far. I previously used PC SMB IIs and another brand of neoprene. I find that these do actually keep my horse's legs cooler and dryer, even in hot, humid conditions. When I take the boots of they are damp/wet on the inside yet my horse's legs feel dry and cool even when the rest of her is sweaty. So the wicking does work. They are also softer and more pliable than the neoprene, which I like. I was worried the mediums would be too tall for my 14.1 Morgan who has solid legs (smalls are too small around) but they just fit. They are expensive but so far I really, really like these boots.
I've been using these boots about a month and I'm very impressed. Sports medicine boots have not been my go-to due to controversy regarding excess heat in the tendons. My gelding, however, had had two tendon injuries in the past year, so the vet recommended these specific boots. The legs are noticeably cooler in comparison to other boots I've used in the past. The fit is a little odd to get used to the first few times but adjusted easily enough. I'll be using these for every ride!
I bought these about a month ago for my horse to where during turnout. He recently developed an issue with a bone chip and was looking for something to help support his legs while he goes outside. He's out in a drylot for about 4 hours everyday and these are holding up well. Easy on and off, and the color still looks great. The fit is a little weird but my horse is a thoroughbred with big legs that are hard to find boots for and the large fit perfectly for the hind but are little big for his front.
I'd been waiting to buy another set of Professional's Choice SMB3 in black but they were back ordered, so I finally bought these. I'm so glad I did. They stay fastened better than the SMB3s on my horse and they are SO much easier to keep clean after rides in our sand arena. It's too early in the year to know how well they stay cool, but I'm not so worried about that.
We bought these for our APHA gamer. Excellent fit and support for this active horse! I'm very happy with all our Professional Choice products.
I like the convenience of these boots over using polo wraps. I also like that they keep the horses legs cooler. The only thing that I think needs to be addressed is the hind boots are not tall enough.
I bought these for my 21 year old horse to ride her after she had some lameness issues pop up after exercise. These do seem to give good support to her legs and have good protection. I like them more than the Professional's Choice Medicine Boots. However I'd say they run a bit small. Definitely measure just to be sure for your horse :)
I love the cooling technology, especially for my new youngster who gets very hot very easily. Unfortunately, after only a couple months of use some of the stitching has come undone. Overall though they are great boots.
I have only used these boots a few times, but I don't think I will continue with them. The front boots are fine, though the new Kevlar patch is bulky; it's the back boots that just don't work for my horse. While the boots are maybe a touch big (my gelding is a weird size), the fetlock straps are SO SO long and bulky. I can't get them to fit right, and even after a few rides to let him get used to them, my horse drags his hind toes whenever he wears them. Really wish I could love these but I don't think my boy is comfortable.
I wanted to like these so bad, but I'm super disappointed. My horse's legs were sweating like crazy after wearing these for a few hours in turn out on a windy, 70 degree day. They fit nice, but are waaaaay over priced because they DO NOT keep their legs cool. Fleece is a better option.
