Proform 67040 PFM67040 DIST HEI CHRY SB 273-318-340

Unfortunately I was unable to use the 67040 HEI distributor in my 1969 Plymouth Valiant with the 273 motor. Mainly due to the larger size of the distributor cap, I was unable to rotate the unit in place more than ten degrees. This prevented me from getting proper engine timing because the vacuum module would hit the intake manifold when rotated in either direction. I was left with two options, one was to remove the vacuum module, and the other was to grind away one of the coil mounting bosses on the intake manifold. I chose not to do either of these and returned the unit back to Jegs for a refund. Otherwise this unit appears to be an excellent upgrade for the right application, and very easy to install. I would definitely recommend it to anyone especially someone who is planning to upgrade their GM application.

The first one failed after less that 1 minute of run time. Jegs replaced it hassle free and the replacement seems to be working fine, however the truck won't be road worthy until next spring or summer so time will tell. It was easy to hook up but it's size and short shaft makes getting the hold down clamp installed a challenge, especially on the small block where it's next to the firewall. I hope this one remains reliable, won't get another if it fails too.
