Great top opener for sport crabbers

ALAN July 8, 2025

Great top opening pot for sport crabbers. Be sure to add enough weight for your tide/current conditions. Also, add enough bait, because when it's gone the crabs can leave quite quickly, as it should be. At today's prices for dungeness, this pot pays for itself after 1-2 crabs.

Can't beat it on price.

Anonymous November 2, 2025

For the money you can't beat it. It's not the best crab pot on the market. But if you're tossing it off a pier it's easy to handle and light. I don't expect it to be the last pot I'll ever need to buy. But it's going to catch crab and it's cheap!

The build is quality good, however, it is too small. It's advertised as 35" x 22" and it is 24" x 22". Small pots don't catch as many crabs as bigger pots so I am returning them.

well built and easy to use

Good quality traps. Need more protective packing.

Jack April 8, 2021

Impressed by the quality of Promar. I usually buy Danielson traps but these are sturdier wire and heavier door straps. Some of the rubber (vinyl?) coating was scrapped off like they had been dragged on a concrete floor in shipping. That's where rust will start.

I cannot give it the full 5 stars because I haven't had the chance to try the traps out yet, but so far they seem to be as advertized.

Not the top of the line....

scott July 15, 2025

It is very flimsy and not very precision built. I had to reform, tie wrap, etc. but it will work for the price.

Where should I begin. Purchasing this from Walmart was my single worst Walmart transaction ever. This trap was marketed as a blue crab trap. It is NOT a crab trap for blue crabs (blue claws). It is a blue painted crab trap made for dungeness crabs. The marketing seems to be purposefully misleading. Worse, due to the item's size it was sent via FedEx which delivered it to the wrong building. Walmart told me to reach out to FedEx. I did. Many days and many emails later I provided a picture of my building lobby which is nothing like the delivered address lobby. They referred me back to Walmart. Walmart sent a replacement and it was at that time I learned it wasn't even useful for my case. I had to return it. Unopened, in person to my nearest Walmart 15 miles away. After all of this Walmart will would not even credit me back to my credit card and offered only a store credit. To say I was absolutely disgusted is an understatement. Shame on you Walmart
