Awesome!!

DonedealinDC October 30, 2020

I'm probably not the target audience for a drone but I had a ball! The camera and video are decent especially for a new user. I can attest that it is very sturdy! It took several whacks against the walls and wasn't damaged. The only con would be the battery. Takes about an hour to charge but only lasts six minutes! A little longer if you're lucky. But it does come with 2 batteries. I liked the app but wish there were more to the instructions. Overall, the Protocol Director is a great drone for the beginner!

Great drone

pokeywinkel November 10, 2020

I have never used a drone before so I wasn't sure how to use it at first. I saw how easy it was to use and I was able to use it very quickly. The camera works great and so does the sound. We bought some land in Texas and it this drone is great to use to see everything on our land. I like that we can show the video to our relatives in Michigan. I am so happy with this drone and I recommend it. I recommend this drone to people that have never used one before and people that have used one before.

High quality

happyday October 21, 2020

I like Protocol Director Foldable Drone. It can fly effortlessly with the 2.4 Gig remote and an on-board altitude sensor. I also can download the app that can provide three different camara shoots, record audio, and live streaming video. Best of all, Protocol director is a folding drone that folds down to 4.75'' and comes with a travel bag making it easy to carry and to fly anywhere! Awesome Drone

So cool

Jmartino October 25, 2020

We didnt get to run it all that long as it was freezing outside but what a cool device! My 14 yr old son had SO MUCH fun. We had to go to a park to avoid trees or power lines, at one point it flew so high we almost couldn't see it anymore and came close to going out of range. It's nice and small and the arms fold up for traveling. Has 2 batteries and a nice charger. The camera is very good quality on my note 8, still have some playing around to do in the app, once it warms up outside a little we can go back outside and play with it. Would make an awesome Christmas gift for preteen-teen.

Surprisingly powerful and fun

Boo October 22, 2020

When we opened the box we were surprised on how small the drone was. My son got one for his birthday 3 years ago and it was the size of a small computer. Not easy to fly or store. Since my kids have been home from school they have been playing with it having a blast. Anything that can get my kids to play together and not fight is a must have in my home. Lots of fun and easy to use.

Really impressed with this little drone

Agapito December 26, 2020

This is the first drone that I've ever had and it took quite some time for me to get used to the concepts, controls and understand how it works. I first tried it inside as I was afraid I would not be able to properly control it outdoors and I would either lost or break it. I cash landed it pretty hard a few times and it was surprisingly resistant. Once you get a handle of how to control, it becomes pretty easy to fly it even in open areas subject to wind. This is a great budget drone and I'd recommend it as your first drone.

Lots of fun until it flew away.

Nando October 25, 2020

I want to disclose that I'm not being compensated in any way for my honest review. Today, I'm reviewing the Protocol Director Foldable Drone With Live Streaming Camera. First of all I want to advise anyone considering a drone, please remember, it's not a toy. It's an aircraft that needs a pilot to responsibly fly it. Quadcopter drones do not fly themselves so please go slow and learn how to fly. There are many free videos that can show you all the fundamentals you'll need to get started. Don't be discouraged by crashes and Fly-Aways. They still happen even experienced pilots. I'm an experienced quadcopter pilot who's been flying for a few years. I received the Director and I really like the packaging. I suggest that you try to preserve the packaging to store this drone. Included along with the drone and remote were a cell phone clamp for the remote, a replacement set of propellers, two drone batteries, a small screwdriver, a propeller removal tool and a velvet pouch. In it's folded position, it's about the size of my hand. The literature included provided valuable information on how to download and install the Protocol Director App and pair it with your phone as well of the functions of the app and remote controller. I'm lucky in that I have a park nearby that is drone friendly. There aren't too many trees around, lots of space and far from roads and structures. Throughout the day, many drone enthusiasts come to fly there. In the morning I went to make my first flight. Immediately I saw how responsive and steady it moved. It hovered very solidly and held it's position very well. I made a point of slowly taking it out to test it's range. I took it out a bit more than 300 feet before I began getting the range warning beeps. I decided to play it safe and keep it within 250 feet to allow a little buffer. I practiced with the first battery to test it's range on Low Speed and then I used the second battery speed testing and generally stress testing the drone and I found it amazingly responsive and moved sharply at my command while I had it on High Speed. The 480P camera resolution looked a little grainy but still pretty impressive on my phone's screen and I was looking forward to taking some nice aerial photos and videos with it. I really enjoyed flying this drone. Once I spent both batteries, I ran home to recharge them both. When I returned to the park in the afternoon, there were more pilots flying their drones. And that's when I had a catastrophic Fly-Away. I was on the first battery and just doing some easy back and forth straight line flights and watching it from my phone's drone camera view. I was careful about keeping it within 250 feet I already designated as my range. I was about 2 minutes into the flight when it passed about 25ft over my head in a straight line when I noticed that the image on my phone was frozen. When I looked up at the drone, it was still flying in a straight line in the same direction about 25ft in the air but stopped accepting commands from my controller. For some reason, the drone held it's speed, altitude and direction and simply kept flying away. My phone was still on a frozen screen and the drone wouldn't respond to my remote control commands to force a landing. Moments later, the range beep warnings began but the drone wouldn't respond to my remote commands. From the frozen phone screen, it still showed the drone battery at 3/4 of power. Me and a few other people who were there watched the drone hold it's direction, altitude and speed as it simply flew away. We were able to watch it for more than 1000ft before we lost line of sight with it heading towards the swamp beyond the far end of the park. Me and a few other people went back into those woods to search for it and I kept trying to reconnect with the drone from the remote as we searched but it was gone. Whether it got hung up in a tree or ended up in the swamp, we weren't sure but we agreed that with still 4 minutes of battery charge and the high speed it was moving; there's no telling how far it may have gone. Luckily, it didn't fly away in a residential area or near any roads. Everyone had theories as to what caused the malfunction. There were storm clouds on the horizon but the air was calm where we were so some speculated that lightning miles away could have interfered. Someone else suggested that my cell phone could have switched WiFi signals away from the drone's signal. Others suggested that there were too many people flying drones and we could have gotten radio interference from another remote. Some suggested that something may have been defective with that drone or remote because I should have had more range than only 300ft on Wifi with clear open space and constant line of sight. And some others said that it had to be a software glitch because the drone should have forced itself to land once it lost it's signal. A lot of theories but no one knows for sure. Losing the drone was disappointing but wasn't all that bad, it was actually a beautiful flight to see as it went away. Poetic in a way. The worst part is that I never got a chance to take any pictures or video with it yet. I was so busy enjoying the flying that I was saving it for some nice scenic pictures and videos later that day in another area but I didn't get the chance to due to the Fly-Away. Would I recommend this product to someone? Sure! I've flown several Protocol drones before and I know that this behavior isn't typical for their aircraft. It was an anomaly. There was another Protocol Director owner at the park who's had his for months and never had any such Fly-Away happen to his and he was telling me how much he enjoyed his own Director in a conversation just before I launched mine and it went rogue. Would I replace it? I think I will. It really performed amazingly before it flew away and I'm disappointed that I couldn't experience the full potential of this aircraft. 4 Stars, I would have given it 5 if it weren't for the catastrophic fly-away of unknown cause.

this drone was fantastic and so cool. for our first test we actually launched it in our house as i was afraid of loosing it because i had never used a drone before. we did also crash it into our wall but it didnt break or appear damaged so that was another qin for the drone. it comes with 2 batteries for the drone and the remote need 4 AA BATTERIES. overall i think i will have fun plahing with this. and would recommend.

Fun for kids.

Lacey November 10, 2020

We let my husband and my 8-year-old give it a try. My husband wasn't impressed, just because he's used to the more extravagant drones with high-quality imaging. My son however, had a good time with it. He enjoys it more as a toy than a drone camera. If you're looking for an exceptional drone for imaging purposes, you should expect to pay much more. You get what you pay for. For the money, my son enjoys “his own” little drone to fly around. For the money, I'd say it's worth it.

Disappointed

Kelsie December 28, 2020

Not what I expected. Almost ordered a cheaper one but decided to upgrade to this and I am very disappointed to say the least. Got this for my husband and son to use together and the very first time it was turned on, it went up then dived down on its own because one wing or whatever it is lol, was melting and wouldn't shut off until the battery was pulled. I'm just happy my husband grabbed it before my son did. Sent it back and they're sending a new one so I'm hoping this one was just defective but I'm not counting on it since I attempted contacting the company before exchanging it through Walmart but they have yet to respond.
