Personally when it comes to gaming I am an XBOX 360 guy, however I have been meaning to get into Blu-rays so, I decided to pick up the PS3. This console is definitely the lightest & smallest version of the PS3 since its debut in 2006. Also unlike its two older brothers (Fat & the Slim) this super slim model has abandoned the slot loading disc tray function instead you will manually have to open and close the cover to place & remove games/DVDs/Blu-rays. When it comes to the presentation on your television screen no one can dispute the fact that the appearance of such apps such as YouTube, Amazon Instant Video, & The WWENetwork appear much better on the PS3 than they do on the XBOX 360. In Conclusion: If you are looking for a device that is a top notch/top of the line multimedia device you can't go wrong with this PS3. As an added bonus this console includes The Last Of Us which is considered by many as not only the greatest game of 2013, but the greatest video game of all time. The only gripes I have are that the device itself is quite the fingerprint magnet, there are still no HD cables included, & the price maybe a little high for those on a budget. Other than that it is a phenomenal multimedia device & a decent gaming system. Final Rating: 5 Stars = Excellent
I'd been avoiding any newer consoles due to their crazy prices for games and the console itself, but when I saw how cheap Sony had finally made the PS3 I went for it. I bought the 500GB, great if you wanna download lots of free stuff or if you play lots of different games. If you are a casual gamer or are buying this for a child who might get tired of it I recommend the 12 or 250GB, don't be afraid to ask a store clerk, they know this junk can be confusing. If you've only ever used a ps2, man are you in for a surprise! I don't just play my games on it anymore, it's like owning a whole new computer too, I surf the web, check Facebook, listen to music, watch Netflix ( with subscription), Youtube and Crackle movies (free). It's also a DVD and Blu Ray player so basically all of the clutter on my entertainment system is gone. And when you register with the Playstation store (there will be an option when you turn on your system) you can download free games and watch free streaming tv shows, free demos, free avatars, free backgrounds for your PS3 (takes breath). Although they switch the free stuff out every once in a while so when you want something download it or next month it might not be there to pick up anymore. And I saw a free download to make the system backwards compatible (So you can play PS2 games on your PS3), but haven't tried it yet. The only thing that kind of bothered me was the download time if you want to get a really BIG game from the Playstation store, but you can usually download anything in the background while you do other stuff anyway. But if your just in it for the games rest assured that; Yes this console is a big step up in gameplay and graphics, many of the games are like playing in a movie. There are lots of games for the PS3 that are good for social online play with friends (Think Everquest and Call of Duty), but Sony definitely hasn't left out us solo players ( Metal Gear, God Of War). Overall this was the best console purchase i've ever made, MORE than worth the money.
I lost my other PS3 to a power surge. 500GB is quite a bit of space. Also The Last of Us is such a good game/story. If you're into post-apocalyptic games then this is perfect.
Bought to replace a PS3. Not ready for PS4 yet
Bought this for my 15 year old son, he loves it! Great value on the bundle package plus free shipping, got in 5 days. Upside to the PS3 over the XBox? The live online play is included with the PS3, you don't pay extra every month like with the xbox live, as long as you have the cord for the internet connection.
bought this in store at my local walmart....always owned an xbox 360, but wanted to play the playstation only games I've missed out on over the years....played uncharted at a friends and liked the game so when I seen that the last of us was made by naughty dog I decided to give this bundle a try....WOW.....graphics are wonderful, and the storyline is GREAT....as for the system, I cant figure out why I never owned one sooner....plays Blu-ray movies, you can upload your own movie files, and it has a 500GB hardrive that seems like it will never get full.....I still consider myself an XBOX FANBOY, but this system is exactly what I thought it was gonna be....quite....runs great with no problem.....free internet service for gaming.....and great exclusive titles
fun to play got for family
A great console with in my honest opinion the best game with a great story. You will not be disappointed.
Excellent
Mine had a defective disc drive. It would lock up. When it was played a while and it was ready to auto save or if you try to save the game. It would lock up freeze and the cd would cycle back and forth with no way to stop it or reset it. The only thing that worked was unplugging it and loosing your progress. The game that came with it was a good one. To bad. But if the hardware is no good. It is not worth the money. I have decided to graduate to pc gamming and give up on consoles that are faulty. I will build my own and make something with quality that will work.
