A continuation of the first game in the best ways. The graphics are remarkable even on the base PS5. The gameplay loop is enjoyable as ever, even if I am just scratching the surface on my first play through of this game.

Game of the year

Nick July 26, 2025

Hideo Kojima has done it again—Death Stranding 2 is not just a sequel; it's an evolution. Where the first game dared to be weird, this one owns its weirdness and delivers something both stranger and more coherent. It's art-house sci-fi wrapped in a surreal delivery simulator, but this time, with deeper combat, richer environments, and far more emotional weight.

Kept you waiting, huh?

Roberto September 2, 2025

Made sure to finish this game before writing a review. I recommend this to anyone that loves single-player/story-driven games.. and a little bit of chaotic fun. Of course the first game is essential to understanding the plot here, so I recommend either buying that too, or at least studying up on YouTube before diving into this magnum opus of insanity. Death Stranding 2 has excellent audio, gorgeous HDR, smooth performance, and a plethora of content in the form of missions, virtually simulated trainings, and combat encounters.. you shouldn't run out of things to do or see for quite an extensive time. It's a very rich experience that's well worth every cent, especially if you like games such as Metal Gear Solid. If you've been on the fence, I say go for it! For those thinking that it's a “walking simulator..” I encourage you to lookup gameplay for yourself. While you're on YouTube, give the soundtrack a listen too, that is if you're still not convinced. Anyway, thanks for your time. See you on the beach.

GOTY 2025

Jake November 9, 2025

This is my 2025 game of the year. If you really hated the first you may not like it, but if you even slightly liked it it significantly improves in every way. Theres as little or as much content as you want. Probably can beat the game in about 60 hours but it took me about 200 because I stopped and did everything like building roads. Highly recommend it

Death Stranding 2

Jerry September 20, 2025

I never had the opportunity to play the first game, so I picked this up because of its appeal. The game will have you play as Sam as you deliver all the scattered materials in an unknown Australia. I enjoyed the combat, driving, building, and story so far. One of the best games for the PlayStation 5, thank you.

A mind-bending sequel

Elliot July 27, 2025

I will always support Hideo Kojima and his quirky, stylistic stories that he chooses to tell. Death Stranding 2 is a perfect follow up to an already incredible, first of its kind "strand type" game. Highly recommend to anyone that loved the first, and for anyone who hasn't played the first – do yourself a favor and try it!

The young man who brought me my order went above and beyond, I could not of asked for a better experience. Even in the blazing heat he brought me my order, if everyone works like he does then this would be the best place ever, he did so good I think he deserves a raise🏆

Death Stranding 2 review

anonymous August 22, 2025

One of the best games of the year. Kojima has done it again, delivering an amazing story that will stay with you long after the credits roll. Kojima is at the peak of his powers as a game creator.

Great Game

Corey December 5, 2025

I like this game. I do however prefer the first one over the second. If you haven't played the first, this one will not have the proper impact on you as intended. There is a summary video, but if you haven't played the first one, you are doing yourself an injustice if you play this one first. It should be cheap by now and Sony has had it on PlayStation Plus before. The story and acting are all stellar as is with most of Kojimas games. He wanted to be a film director. He doesnt speak much english but he and the cast all work together and because of that, we get Death Stranding and DS2 with Norman Reedus as Sam. Really a star studded cast. Sam and Lou and Fragile (Léa Seydoux) and many characters you knew before are now on the old Mexico and Austrailia areas that this game is set. Basically you can teleport between the two regions at a gate of sorts and the idea is to connect all of the sites to the network and hopefully when you finish "Australia" that will be enough to force a new gate to form between "Australia" and a new location. Nothing about the first game is erased, in fact some people at the knot cities of the 1st game return and surprise you, as well as some of the main characters. Some good jokes are in the game, good times, bad times. Heartman is one of the more popular characters; he still has his 21 minute 'myocardial cordiformi' but they gave him a new cool outfit that catches him when he passes out. He met someone else with her own 21 minute condition but hers deals with her digestive system whereas his is his heart. Also outside of the video game she is married to the guy that they used for his in game model. Combat, I love the combat of this game, I think the first had more impact in this aspect vs the combat overall is improved on the second. The first ds, usually I avoided combat except enjoyed the scenes with Cliff (Mads Mikkelsen) and his memories and diving in the subject of his BB and their connection. This still somewhat happens with Neil on ds2 just not on the same level. BT's or Beached Things are these creatures that some people dont bother but im scared of 🤣 just gotta be cautious really. The selection of BT's is improved, and some I still have difficulty in defeating because of their mechanic... the new large ones surrounded be several small ones is scary times. I have been grabbed. The bt bosses are much upgraded and I have lost and won probably an equal amount of time to them especially when I faced the tiger or whatever it's supposed to be. Voidouts are fun 😏🙃. Plenty of surprises, but only if you play the first or directors cut of the first.

Why even have delivery instructions as an option?

anonymous July 30, 2025

The game is great - no complaints. The delivery didn't follow the instructions to put it on the side porch. Instead it was sticking out of the mailbox, where they're not allowed to deliver, right at a busy sidewalk where someone could have easily stolen it.
