I tried kimchi a couple of years ago and was not a fan. I don't know what brand it was etc. I've never had homemade so my review is based on just this jar and not compared to anything. First impression was that it's salty, briny and maybe a little smokey? Lots of garlic. Not too spicy. I could definitely see myself buying it again.
Kimchi… I never had it before so I thought I wanted to give it a try! BIG, HUGE mistake cause I could put it down….I didn't put it on anything, just ate it like a salad. I enjoyed the flavor and after reading the label stating 14-1oz servings I laughed. I guess it was supposed to be used as a dressing topping. Well it didn't make it to any topping only on top of my fork to my mouth. I'm sure it probably would have made a sandwich or burger taste better but that wasn't in the plans. It had a mild spicy flavor not too hot. It reminded me of a salsa with zest . I really enjoyed it, but a bit pricey if I was going to eat this regularly. I guess I'll have to start making my own in big batches. Probably won't be as good
If you're wondering if this tastes like the real thing and not some American fantasy version, yes this is real Korean kimchi made by a very reputable Korean brand. However, the expiration date was only 2 wks away when I bought it. The only reason why I took off a star is because, even though this was technically an unexpired product, the kimchi was quite fermented (the white parts of the cabbage was approx 30-40% translucent if you know what I'm talking about - more suitable to be eaten in a stew or jeon ). YMMV depending on where you live - I live in the middle of nowhere and I imagine that Kimchi here doesn't have a quick turnover. Also, traditionally the kimchi is stored at a colder temp than the produce aisle where this is being sold at my store.
i received spicy i cant eat spicy didnt order spicy
I've enjoyed kimchi most of my life, i often ferment it at home as well. This... is a travesty in a jar. while the basic flavor is there, its buried in such a strong, foul slurry of napa and salt that enjoying it is quite difficult. Expiration date is fine on the container, its just... not very good at all as far as kimchi goes.
Item was not sealed properly. Very disappointing decided to throw it out because it was not sealed correctly.
It tastes horrible and contains a bunch of unnecessary and disgusting ingredients like high fructose corn syrup
I love this brand, however they delivered me an expired product. I ordered it to be delivered on Feb 24 however it expired on Feb 16
worst kimchi I've ever had. fish flavor way over powering.
It was expire 6 days when I got it.
