The best brushs ever, still!
It's a soft-tipped brush that is well tapered and gives a nice smooth finish. It works great on mullions and is also good for feathering in paint patches in small areas.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this brush five years ago and it is the best brush I've ever had. Still use it at every job. Excellent coverage, leaving minimal brush marks. It's been through water-based and oil and back again. Interior and exterior. Most versatile brush I own.
The 2 1/2" XL Dale is the most precise and versatile brush known to man. I use it to paint kitchen cabinets with oil on a professional level, and also use it to cut in latex trim. And if you use it right, the leading few bristles become an artist's brush for intense cut in. It's all I buy!
Purdy just makes real, quality, paintbrushes! Quality in the way grandpa talked about it... Not the way we think of it now. It can seem hard to pay a little more when you are a DIY'er, but these brushes give you long lasting performance so they prove thier worth to you time and again. Money well spent! These brushes always feel good in your hand, and are comfortable to work with. Trust me, after 10 hours you WILL feel a difference! I've worked around a lot of pro's and looked to see what they use. The only brush I've seen in thier bag has been Purdy. I also love the fact that they are 100% made in the USA. It gives me a lot of pride to know we can still make tools of this caliber! PS. My wife even LOVES to paint with these brushes!
This is by far the best cut-in brush I have ever used, nice straight lines. Only down fall it doesn't hold a lot of paint but worth re dipping more often .
I have managed to keep one of my dale brushes in the rotation for 7 years! It has made it through three, live-in renovations without fail. This is absolutely the best brush I own, for detail and trim work.
As a professional painter I use the xl dale brushes for trim. They are the best brushes you can buy period. Always quality build for the pro or anyone wanting the best
I have bought literally cases of these brushes. They are excellent quality. However, when I switched to Benjamin Moore Aura paint (a heavy bodied paint), these brushed failed completely, and I stopped buying them. The brush lacks the bristle firmness to spread the heavy paint as you are cutting in. The result is sags in your cut. In fact, I have been unable to find any Purdy brush able to handle Aura® paints, not even the brushes labelled "firm". Too bad. If you are using normal, lighter paints, this brush will do you well, although it is extremely expensive. I have been a professional painter for 45+ years.
I have been using Purdy brushes for many years. I recently purchased two of these Purdy XL Dale brushes and neither of them held paint. Very poor performance in this brush. I've been considering switching to another product.
