Pure Balance Grain Free Lamb and Rice dry food truly is Poultry free. It's an affordable clean option. Our Service Dog is allergic to chicken. From the most expensive brands to private store labels, nearly every dry or wet dog food uses poultry in some way. Not this recipe. Ingredients can be easily pronounced and understood. Kibble is not too small and not to big, for us it's the Goldilocks for our girl. It's smaller than the size of an average blueberry. (See photo). She loves it! No allergies, no itching. If it doesn't work for your dog, that's what returns are for.
My dog has an allergy to poultry. I needed to find an affordable alternative to the grain free food he'd been eating for years, prior to developing an allergy. I was happy to discover Pure Balance. It has an understandable, short, and healthy list of ingredients. He doesn't need to eat as much as other brands, so the bag lasts longer. . My other dog loves it, too. The price makes it affordable on a fixed income.
This dog food has been a great choice for my dog. The ingredients seem high quality, and I love that it's grain-free. My dog enjoys the flavor and gets excited at mealtime every day. I've also noticed a healthy coat and good energy levels since switching to this brand. Excellent value and definitely a product I'll continue buying!
we adopted a lab several years ago with a skin condition that looked like mange. our vet suggested this food then and it worked wonders. now we have two other labs and one was turned in due to the same skin condition. they said they couldnt afford the $400 a month medication. we now only use this food and this dog as well has cleared up in about 3 weeks! its all we will use from now on.
My Dog Eats It Facing the Door Now The bag arrived heavier than 11 pounds should feel. Lamb and fava beans. A dinner for a sophisticated dog. A dinner for a dog who knows things. Useful information first: this is a **grain-free formula with lamb as the first ingredient**, which matters if your dog has poultry or grain sensitivities — itchy skin, ear gunk, the 3 AM paw-chewing concert. We switched for exactly that reason, and after about three weeks the scratching dropped off noticeably. Coat got glossier too, likely the omega fatty acids. He gleams now. He gleams in rooms with no light source, but he gleams. **Transition slowly.** This is the part people skip and then leave one-star reviews about diarrhea. Mix 25% new food with 75% old for a few days, then 50/50, then 75/25, over about 7–10 days. Grain-free formulas are often richer than what dogs are used to, and a hard switch will redecorate your carpet. One genuinely important note: talk to your vet about grain-free if you have a breed prone to heart issues — the FDA has looked into a possible link between some grain-free diets and DCM in dogs. Most dogs do fine, many thrive, but it's a real conversation worth having, not a skip-the-fine-print situation. Your vet knows your dog. Your dog knows your vet. They have an understanding. Kibble size is medium — fine for my 60-pounder, might be big for a toy breed. Palatability is the big win: this is the first food he hasn't performed a full forensic sniff inspection on before eating. He just eats. Immediately. Sitting very straight. Watching the hallway. The 11-lb bag lasts my dog about three weeks. Reseal it well or use an airtight container, because the fats in the kibble go stale when exposed to air, and because the bag rustles when no one is touching it. **Pros:** Real lamb first ingredient, no corn/wheat/soy/poultry, visible coat improvement, picky-eater approved, fair price for the category. **Cons:** Kibble may be large for small breeds, grain-free warrants a vet chat, my dog has started leaving one piece of kibble at the threshold of each room — an offering, or a toll. He's never been healthier. He's never been more *watchful*. Five stars. The bag is almost empty. He knows before I do.
The only food my dog will eat. My German shepherd has allergies and this brand was recommended by his vet and it has helped him A TON for his coat and digestion to get back right after finding out he was allergic to chicken and a few other things. We also started getting this for my Australian shepherd puppy and he is doing well on it as well.
This dog food is a definite win-win! Our dog (German shepherd) has been eating this for three years and her health has improved significantly. Bonus: she loves the taste of the lamb and fava bean. At 8 years old, she is as healthy and active as a youngster.
This is the only dog food my golden doodle can eat. He has extreme food allergies. This food has minimal ingredients, most importantly no chicken. I have tried others for his allergies. The others caused stomach upset or he just would not eat them. He loves this food and his skin, nails, and ears have all cleared up. Thank you.
I love this dog food for my dog. My sister's dog was having major dry itchy skin that he was constantly scratching. She would give him allergy pills but with little results. I recommended this beand dog food and within two weeks, his skin was dramatically improved and scratching almost non existent. For the price, its a great option for dog owners.
something wrong with this bag of food and that is making my dog sick. hopefully it's just this particular batch and it will go back to normal soon but my dogs have been puking while using this food. I know what you're thinking, but we switched dog foods to a different brand and they stopped puking. switch them back to this brand and they began puking again. definitely a problem with this brand and batch.
