I'm happy to find out that this oil--unlike other boiled linseed oils on the market--does not contain any chemical additives that speed drying; the chemical additives make those oils more toxic to work with and are not traditional. However, this oil is good; its Safety Data Sheet states it is pure oil, boiled like it traditionally should be. I've used the whole bottle already and am purchasing another.
Time will tell how well it holds up to the elements but it thoroughly rejuvenates weathered wood. The substrate strengthening aspect of the drying oil on wood is also noticeable and appreciated. Most impressed and glad I chose this option. Easy to work with, have used it to rejuvenate previous latex paint on wood with slight chips and also latex painted metal to restore luster and finish. Can't foresee choosing any other product in the future, thankful to this company for providing quality products. Fast shipping and superb packaging is an added bonus.
My first experience using this pure Swedish linseed oil and Ottosson linseed oil paint has gone so well that I plan to use it on all future window restorations. It has a luscious consistency, and being able to work without having to wear PPE is a relief. TG someone thought to resurrect the use of this solvent-free, very natural and durable medium.
I use it exclusively on all my raised planter projects. You can see pictures in the gallery of my website
I refurbish and restore vintage hand tools (mostly axes). I want true, old-school materials AND I avoid toxic chemicals. AP's pure Swedish BLO contains NO toxic heavy metal chemical additives. It is simply linseed oil! This product works excellently, leaving all my projects well-preserved and well protected. I'm a happy and loyal customer.
Such a supreme product. Very happy I ordered from them. Exactly what I expected and worked just as well. The smell gives me nostalgia from when my grandfather taught me to treat our leather baseball gloves with this stuff back in the day. I will be recommending this wherever applicable. You cannot go wrong. The packaging is great.
I have only reviewed one product online in my entire life, this is my second. This product is absolutely exceptional. What most people don't know is that the "boiled linseed" oil you buy at the hardware store isn't boiled at all. It's raw linseed oil with chemical dryers. It's less viscous yet it doesn't soak into the wood that well. It's mostly on the surface or slightly below. This product sold by Atlas Preservation is truly and undoubtedly boiled linseed oil. It has the consistency of honey but will soak into dry unfinished wood at an astonishing rate. It is the difference between being on the wood and in the wood. I implore anyone who is seeking linseed oil to get this. I would bet that the other brand Atlas has is also excellent. I'm kicking myself that I didn't also order the linseed oil wax. There's always next time. It amazes me that so few companies actually carry the real deal like this. I was only able to find two sources in the US when searching online. One of them was of dubious legitimacy and the other, Atlas Preservation was obviously legit. I will definitely be buying more when I run out. Thank you Atlas for being a one of a kind company and the last purist left.
Just as expected - thank you!
Great product, couldn't be happier, restoring 1799 farm house, this linseed oil is perfect for so many applications, definitely order again
The pure Swedish boiled linseed oil is a great product.
