Purina Dog Chow Wet Dog Food, High Protein Real Lamb in Gravy, 13 oz Can

Purina temporarily stopped making Alpo Prime Cuts, a canned food that my picky senior will eat. I contacted Purina about finding the Alpo and they updated me on the hold, then recommended this canned food as a substitute. I ordered a 12 pack and my dog likes it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of my girls favorites. Chunks of lamb in a thick gravy that's high in protein for my active girl. She gets excited when I'm opening the can. She's not a picky eater but some brands she just will not eat. I especially like it because I know she will not hesitate eating it & I know she's getting the nutrients she needs. I trust Purina & I'm glad to say because of Purina Dog Chow my girl is staying happy & healthy.

I love that it's packed with 40 grams of protein and doesn't have artificial flavors or preservatives. It's an amazing, affordable way to make mealtime special and it's what I always choose to provide for my furbaby!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog is a picky eater, that's for sure. She's not a fan of anything that's too mushy. Texture is a really big deal for her when it comes to mealtime. I've noticed she really prefers her wet food when the ingredients are still chunky and recognizable. It's like she wants to see what she's eating, you know? If it's all ground up, she'll sometimes turn her nose up at it. It's funny how much a little texture can make a difference for her. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for those chunkier varieties! But this wet food definitely satisfies that chunky need!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The way the product is marketed leads you to believe that this food is mostly lamb, but lamb is only the fifth ingredient on the label, after chicken and meat by-products. It really should be called ‘Chicken with lamb’ or something of the sort, instead of trying to fool people into believing it is mostly lamb in the can. I’m also not fond of the ‘meat by-products’ in the ingredients list. I have no problem with by-products, but I wish they would list what type of animal it is. Many dogs have food sensitivities, and these ‘meat by-products’ provide no information about what kind of animal meat is actually in the food. The food itself was just okay. It was much wetter than I prefer, but my dog seemed to enjoy it. #sponsored #ad

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started off by using a bit of this as a topper alongside my dogs regular kibble. She loved it and ate it all up. The next morning I noticed she kept gagging and threw up a few times. I wasn't sure if it was the food or if it was something else that made her sick, so I waited 2 days then tried this food again. I used a small amount as a topper again, and she was fine that night. The next morning she threw up a few times, and kept pacing around, and was acting very strange. It concerned me enough to take her to the vet where they ended up prescribing her some probiotics. After the probiotics and a special chicken and rice diet, her tummy healed and shes back to normal now, but the whole thing was very worrisome and scary. The rest of this food went in the trash. I definitely will not be feeding her this again. #ad
