I needed a great quality feed with the perfect protein content for my mixed flock of adult peafowl, turkeys, and 11-week-old jersey giant pullets/roosters. The peafowl and turkeys were on a different brand of pellet type feed that I mixed in sunflower seeds with, but they started to completely ignore the pellet feed. They wouldn't touch it. Because these birds need a higher protein content than regular poultry feed, I did some research and found Purina Flock Raiser crumbles with 20% protein, and the calcium is at a level that is safe for my male turkeys and peacocks. High calcium can be detrimental to their health. When it's time for the hens to lay, I will just add oyster shell for the hens to eat separately. I was concerned that they might not like the change from pellets to crumbles, but they actually love it. They eat far more of this than they ever did of the pellets. Now I give them sunflower seeds and dried meal worms separately as a treat. As far as my jersey giants go, they were started on Purina Start and Grow Medicated crumble and loved it, so the switch to Flock Raiser was a very easy change for them too. Now they are all on the same feed. I really like that this feed has prebiotics and probiotics. That's very important for their digestive system and immune health. The crumble size is great too. Not small at all. Just the right size. I'll keep buying this feed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our local Future Farmers of America ran a year long poultry project. One of the results they found was that the hens in the study preferred Purina Flock Raiser over the other 10 brands tested. We decided to give it a try and now my hens will ignore other feed when offered Flock Raiser. We have several pens of hens that are shown and a month after starting them on Flock Raiser there was a noticeable difference in color and feather quality. I am very happy with this feed.
We recently stated raising Coturnix quail and when switching to the Purina Flock Raiser Crumbles we started notice an increase in egg products and the way our birds looked! Thanks for having such a well rounded feed!
We raise and show fancy pigeons including fantails, Chinese Owls, and Toy Modenas. We feed Flock Raiser Pellets. The birds do great on them. They are sized right, and accepted very well by the birds, and the babies do super on them.
My baby chicks and chickens love this crumble. I use all Purina chicken feed. They prefer these crumbles over anything. They know when I open the tub to feed. They hear them being poured and come running. I feed what my chickens prefer. Smells good too
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is all I use when I have babies best option out there I recommend this for all beginners
This feed is preferred with my mixed flock. Any other feed we have tried they dont seem happy with it
Been using this for my mixed flock of ducks and chickens for over a year . No complaints very happy with it .
We have a mixed flock of chickens and ducks. This feed is perfect for them. They love the food. All of them are happy, healthy and have beautiful feathers! We love Purina!! Thank you for making such awesome feeds!
My ducklings are about a week old and have been on this feed and are showing signs of niacin deficiency. If this feed was sufficient for ducklings, it should have everything it needs without buying added supplements which I now have to do. I'm now stuck with a giant bag of this feed that I don't even want to give to the babies now.
