Love it grate thank you so much!
This LED light bar is a nice addition to a truck. Adds more light to back up at night! Also adds some safety when breaking and using the turn signal. These lights are extremely bright so morons who text and drive should be able to see them. Plus they can be installed in under an hour!
The Putco LED light bar is the latest addition to my GMC 2500 HD Denali. The light bar is great for added safety and really dresses up the back of the truck. Installation, in theory is very easy, however the wiring diagram shown in the installation instructions differs from GMC's. Follow the schematic for the wiring of your six pin connector and match the functions of each wire in the instructions. Make sure you call Real Truck and check the product # if purchasing for a GMC. They only seem to know Ford products.
This light bar, in my opinion, is the best one on the market. Yes, you can buy cheap ones. But you get what you pay for. My only complaint, the packaging. When I got mine from FedEx, it was literally bent in half. I opened it and it was completely broken in 2 pieces. It took a long time to get it resolved. I immediately ordered another one knowing that they would want the first one back, then they would send a new one out. Well, it wound up being a claim to FedEx. After a couple weeks, I finally got a call tag for the broken one to be picked up by FedEx. I then got my refund for that one. Overall, if the packaging was say in a tube, that would never have happened. CHANGE THE PACKAGING..... But, the product is totally worth it.
This light bar is super bright compared to others I've seen. I used the clips to install which gave the bar enough flexibility to access my spare tire lowering hole. I decided to hard wire so I can keep my plug free for using a trailer. I accidentally ordered the shorter bar at first and Real Truck was great with exchanging for the longer bar.
I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Installation was easy and the light bar enhances safety not only by those following my vehicle but also while backing up my truck due to the very bright white LED's that are activated when putting the truck in reverse.
These lights are super high quality and very bright. You can find less expensive options but the quality will not be as high. Why the difference in price, what are you paying for? Two main items: 1) The lux of the Putco Blade LED light is better. Lux is a measure of how the light is focused, which makes its resolution sharper and brighter especially during poor weather conditions like rain, snow fog, dusty air, etc. Many people just compare Lumens, but Lumens are just a measure of how bright a light might shine. The point is you need the 'brightness' to be focused, which is the Lux, in order to see it better during poor visibility conditions. This is always the case with LED lights. 2) The construction of the light has the highest rating of keeping water, moisture and dust out (highest IP69K rating) including the best quality resins to encase and protect the LED lights. This will keep these LED lights looking like new for years to come vs. cheaper options that will get dulled and dingy over time. I have 2020 Ram 1500 and the Putco 18" LED Blade pair is what Putco recommends. THE 60" & 48" WILL NOT FIT 2019+ RAM 1500s. This is because the configuration of the space between the tailgate and bumper is not completely flat, as a result the single 60"/48" cannot be flush-mounted without modification. But this review holds for Putco's 60", 48" and 36" light blades as well. They're all made the same way. I'm not trying to pitch this product, I have no affiliation with Putco. I'm just sharing the research I did and what I found out. Yes, there are cheaper options you can buy, but long term I feel the construction of these lights are a better option. Installation: Straightforward and simple. I highly recommend that you purchase the Blade Quick Connect. This makes installation plug and play and avoids the need to splice into wires and removing your left tail light. This is great if you are doing the work yourself and not comfortable splicing wires, or if you pay someone to install, then the time it saves (i.e. money) will more than pay for itself. Plus you get a more solid connection of the wires.
The Putco Blade is what I have been looking for - a solid row of red LEDs without a sequential turn. What I didn't understand is that I was also paying for the circuit needed for Ford trailer lights. I haven't wired the bar to my Rams system, so I can't critique everything, but plugged into the 4-wire outlet the baris working great and is a nice complement to the digital tail lights. Installation was easy Using the tape supplied.
Looks great. Nice and bright. I ordered the 60" at first but then realized afterwards that my truck has a sliding bracket attached to the body about 4" from the passenger end that would interfere with the light bar. I could either remove it or get the 48". I opted for the 48" & it looks just fine. I will hard wire it in at a later date once I find out the color scheme for the 7 pin.
Really not sure how to rate this one. I've had several light bars on this truck, they get broken/damaged due to the tough life that my truck has. This is BY FAR the brightest I have installed so far. However, the bar came with NOTHING to stick it to the truck! No Tape, no screws, NOTHING!!! For the price paid for this item, the instructions could/should have been clearer, and it should come with MULTIPLE install methods. Instructions are spotty, attachment method, You better know your way around the parts store, and your tool box. There's nothing there to help you or to even point you in the right direction. I shouldn't have had to work this hard to install a tailgate light bar, nor spend money on the VHB tape that I did. If not for the appearance of the product, I'd be SERIOUSLY upset. If you're new to truck upgrades, think twice...
